A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

After my shakedown cruise earlier this week, I found a couple of issues. With a full tank, my petcock didn't seal causing a drip from the carb overflows. Also, one of my new side cover tabs broke, so I reattached and reinforced. I replaced the o-rings in the petcock and after another ride, and everything seems to be working like it should. I'll run a couple of tanks of gas through it and then it's time for paint. Still thinking about silver with a grey stripe and red lettering. Open to suggestions though. Here's a shot of how it stands today.
i really like it. im assuming thats a ebay gp muffler (no offence, id own one) what header is that? hows it sound? maybe a video?

Right, ebay gp muffler. Fairly inexpensive for stainless, and so far quality seems fair to good. I'd probably go with a megaphone or something that fits the style of the bike a little better if I had it to do over. I think the header is a Kerker, but there are not markings so hard to tell.

Honestly, it sounds pretty good. The muffler has three levels of baffle, and I've got it set on the loudest (still not obnoxious). The bike's in pieces prepping for paint right now so I can't start it at the moment. I'll try to get a video when it's back together. Cell phone sound quality is usually pretty crappy, but I'll give it a shot.

I got the paint sprayed over the weekend. I'm never happy with my work, but it didn't turn out too bad. I've got a busy week coming up so it will probably be next weekend before I can get it back together.

Looks pretty good to me... Do you paint in the open like that? How do you deal with overspray and dust?

Pretty cool!

Love it already. That is going to look sweet when you're done.

Yes, I do paint in the open. To help keep dust down, the whole garage gets blown out with a leaf blower. Then I install furnace filters in the windows on one side and set a squirrel cage fan blowing out the window on the opposite side (you can see it in the tank picture). Then the floor gets hosed down right before I start to spray.

Over spray isn't a problem. Even professionals spray multiple parts in a common booth. I rarely have issues with dust either. If I do, I'm using two step automotive urethane, so it will get cut and buffed if necessary. This particular paint job flowed nicely, so I'll decide once it's back together whether I buff it out or not.

Here's another shot of the tank from the other side. Thanks for the compliments, fellas.

I got it back together last night and rode it around a little. It's cloudy and damp here, so I couldn't put many miles on it, but everything seems to be working like it should. I think this one is almost done.
