A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I think they make a knocking sound, but no way would I rely on my diagnosis for that! I just recall reading that on here...

Don't suppose you could get a video up? That may make it a bit easier...

Yeah i'll try and grab one in the morning, dont think the neighbours would appreciate it right now lol

Think i'm abit over the black and white paint job, seems abit ordinary maybe i need some metallic

Nah not yet, all it needs is some paint and some rubber edging, but i might have to modify it as i lowered the headlight and gauges

i feel i should change the name of this thread to ' never ending story ' but i might get in trouble with copyright...

Bike is running and i gotta say its hauling arse! 70kph in 3rd and still pulling hard, its got some carb issues now when accelerating hard it will pop which i'm assuming is it running lean?

After work today i got bored so threw the side cover that i painted on my buffer and its like a mirror now, very happy with the shine and reflection but not happy with my paint skills, shame to put another colour over it.

My DIY headlight fairing needs some trimming, then i'll start painting it but what colour?..........

Mate I know the feeling! Mine is also feeling like the never ending story, although to be more accurate at the moment it's probably the never starting story

Hopefully that'll change in two days...

Great to hear she's running well, and yeah it sounds right that popping would be lean, but probably best to get into the plug chops to see for sure.

As to the painting and colour? I still like the black with the white stripe... but it's your bike!

the side cover looks damn good all buffed but i can still see some sanding marks etc, i hate painting. I'll pull the plugs out tomorrow afternoon, got 2 jobs on tomorrow so i'm gonna be buggered by the end of it, might even buy myself afew bourbons!

Mate tomorrow's Friday, bourbons definitely in order! Although I'm a scotch man myself...

And I can't comment on the buffing because I don't see no pic!

I'll get some pics tomorrow, its a 5 metre side cover, looks great 5 metres away. I'm thinking of getting a litre or something of paint and painting it all at once, rather than spray cans and will prob end up being cheaper too but i'll still do the white line with a spray can.

I've got my eye on a gs450 which is local, waiting to see some pics of it.

Cool! Yeah I'm gonna attempt the proper spray when I get there, should be an interesting exercise...

A 450 hey? Nice :D

Hmmm took it for a run and its still got issues, cut out on me and refused to fire up until i put it onto prime, so i say now its got carb issues for sure, going to pull them off tonight and see what i find.

Under full throttle it will pop and down low revs it wants to stall

But if that ticking really was your fuel tap... maybe it's not letting quite enough fuel flow, leaning it out and causing those issues?

Checked the floats today and they were way out, so it makes sense that it runs out of fuel when getting up it, will have to keep an eye on them thought as i only just did them the other day and the tap is flowing heaps of fuel.

Will put it back together tomorrow morning and see how it goes. Picking up a car tomorrow afternoon, woman is giving me a ford festiva... cant turn down a free car!

Cool, that should definitely make a difference! That certainly explains the symptoms too...

Free car is cool...

Bike is now running and idling, but still popping under acceleration and feels like its holding back. I have the pilot screw wound out to about 1.2 turns might wind it out abit more.

Picked the car up today, ended up costing me $90 to hire the trailer and put fuel in the tow car bonus is it runs!

Hmmm I think 2 to 3 is where they like to be, but I could be wrong of course... after today's effort and the first start I definitely know how much I *don't* know about ignitions and timing and whatnot...

So a free Festy that runs hey? Bargain! :D

i think standard for my bike is 1.5 turns out, but i find it doesnt like that.

The car was filthy its been sitting under a tree in a reserve since march, trailered it home got it off and managed to start it straight up, got some photos of it this morning before it rained, the before and after photos are awesome, its a really tidy car now, but its still a Ford... lol
