    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Unless you guys can give me $$$, it's for sale. $850 takes it. No lower. :hand: I spent that much only on the frame and engine so I think my price is fair. It runs!

Not at all! I have a GPS! :) My truck's engine seized up (I knew that was coming....) so I need a car. The bike won't be ready for a while either. *sigh* :(

I do already have a buyer coming over this Friday (hope he doesn't flake) so yeah.... If it's not sold by Sept. 28, I will part this bike out because I know that you guys want some stuff on this! ;)
 
I know that this has been covered before but...
You have no relatives, friends, etc. that could loan you a vehicle?????
Or assit you in purchasing one? (Mom and DAD)

And who needs idiot lights? It is a Suzuki.
If it is running, has oil and gas in it and not making any funny banging/clanging sounds,
you are good to go...

I am worried that it will break down on me lol. I've always felt uneasy when riding an old bike that has not gotten all of the maintenance done yet...

Hmmm.... You guys really want me to keep this. :)
 
After all of your troubles with the 450 and all of the troubles with this one,
you deserve to keep it and it will pay you back in many fun-filled miles. ;)
They REALLY are not that hard to make work as designed.
It is just some minor little tiny things that you are overlooking. ;)

You guys make it sound so easy. This is only my second time working on a project like this. I bet you guys have done hundreds of these so you know your way around it. I am not there yet and I often get stuck or confused lol.... :o. But the problem is still there. I need a ride.

Exactly ! If you buy a car, you face increased insurance cost, lower gas mileage, and an unknown vehicle with unknown problems. You know that bike inside and out.

I'm on my first GS. It's not without a headache or 3, but my girlfriend has been riding it a few times a week and hasn't had any issues.

You have to pick it apart into each tiny possible issue, and test/fix everything. First I had a fueling issue as a result of bad float levels. Then my electrical problem due to a bad R/R and fuseblock. Then another fueling issue from not having another inline filter for my nasty gas tank. Then my turn signals didn't work. Then I had a wire break free from the coils.

I could go on, but you get the picture. It's a learning experience.

With all the BS life has thrown at you with this ride ... if you don't keep it you are letting the negative energy or as you say DARK CLOUD win. It's thrown a lot at you & you have worked through it. KEEP IT!
You will be happy you did, because all of us older adults (an I use the term loosely) have sold various cars & bikes and have regretted it years later. I have 1 car & 1 bike I regret selling because of $$$ flow issues. Turns out I didn't need to in the end. And I have kicked myself many times for selling them.

SO KEEP IT!

I'm actually kind of in the same boat. Got that CB750F running and riding pretty damn swell. Gonna trade it for a Subi wagon over the weekend. I commute 30+ miles each way and had too many close calls with ice and hypothermia last year to do it by bike another year. It sucks because to be honest, I've never even SEEN another F in person, and I'll probably never get a chance to find another one for what I have into this one. But, being a growed up has it's pitfalls.

I could thoeretically put aside a little from a few paychecks, but then again I have: rent, utilities, daycare, credit card, loans, bike payment, cable, gym, yadda yadda yadda.

You could easily bank one or two paychecks and get a decent little commuter car. Use your newly acquired skills (as they come) to work on it and make it a nice getaround. Sell it later on, buy something nicer... lather rinse repeat.
 
The truck's engine actually isn't seized. :confused: It felt like it locked up when I was on the freeway and I saw the low oil light. When I tried to start it again, the engine tried to turn but didn't as if it was stuck. Then yesterday, I added more oil and it works again although the knock is very loud. There is a nice oil leak at some areas as well which would explain the loss of oil.

Strange... Is there like a safety switch or something?


So anyways, I had a guy come look at the 1100E today. He likes it. The offer is $500 plus a car stereo and a small air compressor. I'm not really liking this deal since I need the cash much more than those other things......

Spun a rod bearing. Engine will still turn, but not for much longer.

I'd tell the guy to sit on it and spin. If you're going to do it, post up on PNW trading straight up for a running vehicle. Better odds if you throw a little cash on top.
 
What kind of truck is it?
Undo the exhaust manifolds and engine mount bolts
Take off the drive shaft if it has one
Jack the front of the tranny up with a block of wood until the oil pan can clear.
Remove oil pan and replace the rod bearing.
I've done this on big old Chevys and a Nisson truck.
It's really not that hard.
Of course drain the oil first. :eek:
Can you get a cherry picker?
