I'm just going to start the thread now.

I have been very busy with graduation and stuff so I didn't really get to work on the bike as much... And my mom is using the camera to take pictures of graduation so no pictures of the bike yet . And honestly, I am very sore right now...

The truck bed liner was peeling! So peeled some more...

Sweet!

Did the same with the fender.

Then side covers. Left side. Too bad the mounting tabs are broken.

The right side is black with no decals.

Too bad I peeled some of the clear coat and decals too. Oh well.

And then there's 3 keys for each lock LOL!

It seems like the '82-'83 GS1100E airboxes are pretty rare. If you find one, it's expensive. I might just go with pods and a Dynojet stage 3 kit.

The bike is missing a few parts; the clutch perch and lever, airbox, headlight bolts, left mirror, battery, and that's all I've found so far. Just minor stuff.

The left side cover's mounting tabs are broken, the engine is broken, the front tire does not inflate. I'll try again with an air compressor.

I did not buy the running engine yet since I can't afford it yet . Got $150 right now...

I thought that the freezing parts method might have to be used.
I am pretty sure that I have a complete air box set-up if you are so inclined.
Myself, would just go with the pods.
Makes it SO EASY to get the carbs off. Not difficult to jet at all.

Is this battery good? It has the same OEM part number: YB14L-A2. And it's an AGM battery.

The engine I have right now actually looks to be in good condition. It's just that the cylinder sleeve blew up. But I have a spare from an '82 GS1100E engine. I didn't buy the complete '82 engine yet though...

I'm going to put the engine back together and try starting it. Worse thing that can happen is that it will blow up some more .

Yes. That is tight. A torque wrench will keep you from stripping the threads in the head.

OK. Some parts that is missing and need.

• Left side mirror
• Clutch perch with lever and bolts
• Positive battery cable
• Headlight bolts. All of them.
• Shift linkage. The rod with threads on both sides.
• Airbox or pod filters

That's all I've found for now. But I'll keep looking.

Damn Dude! Thats what progress looks like!! Thats great you were able peel the bed liner away like that. You'll be able make it shine up pretty easy. Or just do a repaint job on it .

I'd go with pods, you already have the 4-1, might as well go with pods. BTW that exhaust looks like it'll clean up great.

That motor is pretty blown up though. Were you able to put the good set of cylinders on it? Or are you trying to start it as is?

Edit: Most AGM's ship with a charge, though it is not a full one. Best to put it on a tender for a few hours just the be sure.

Have a crack at a cut& polish or even cut & clearcoat as the base colour looks to be all there. Bed liner, im not quite sure why they went for that, but oh well.

I agree, swap the barrels, measure and spec everything twice and try for the best, your current motor is fragged anyhow, so if the new barrels grenade too your not going to be much worse off.

Ha! I stopped putting it back together since I don't really know how. The cam chain got me stumped. I think it's best if I just leave it alone... For both me and the engine .

Haha take a look at the manuals, I'm sure you can find on on Basscliff's site. When all else fails try and call in a local expert. I'm sure someone in WA state has to know how to put an engine back together

Those pieces off the bottom of the jug got whipped around in the crankcase so I'm sure there is some damage down there.
