DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1985 GS1150E Rim size question

I have an 85' 1150E that I bought new. I wrecked the bike years ago, wiped out the front end. It's been in my garage since with my others bikes, I loved that rocket and thought I'd fix it one day, it only had 12,000 on the motor. Well 'one day' has arrived, late but it has arrived.
The rim sizes on mine are a 16/2.75 front and a 17/3.50 rear. I have found a 16/2.50 front rim, forks and triples that I'm told are from an 84' 1150ES. My question is would these work on my 85'. Can I fit my 120/80 Metzler on that narrowed 2.50 rim.
Any answers or insights would be appreciated.

thanks

could fit a 110/80 and it wont steer like a harley/truck anymore.

Thanks guys. What's amazing is my Metzlers still look new, no age cracks or anything. I will replace them before I start riding the bike. For now I just want to get my old front tire on a rim and the forks in so I can move it around on wheels to continue working on it. It's been on the centerstand with the bent forks and busted rim lying on a dolly. Pain in the ass to move it around with the jack all the time.
I didn't know the 84's came with that smaller size rim. Anyone know if that would affect the handling using the 2.50 up front and the 3.50 in the rear? I'm guessing probably not.
anyway, thanks again, I will probably be back on here quite a few more times as I try and get this ol baby running again.
