Pipe and Things Part 2

Pipe and Things Part 2

Well as mentioned the exhaust arrived.....

I can tell you one thing, this guy know how to package, this thing went from one end of the country to almost the other, and it's in great shape, even the box stood up and took no abuse.

It probably took me close to a half hour to unpackage it all, and I will say I couldn't be happier with the purchase, it's in great condition, it will need a bit of sanding, and painting, but once done, it will look great on the FZ.....

I can't wait to put it on....

so a few pictures.....

Glad you are happy with it GK...I will let Bill know.;)

Looks great...and so does the house.:p

The pipe and the house, both now need to be finished up....LOL

but I think once done they will look great....

Yes if you have a chance and you see Bill, Thank him, I am pleased with the transaction...

by the way, let him know, I think he was running rich, the inards of the pipe really smelled of gasoline......I will be sure to clean it out......I am sure 10-15 thousand rpm will do it just nicely.....

.

bloody hell.....again....

bloody hell.....again....

I don't want to talk about it,,,,,but it involves the forks, the fork oil, and a friggen mess....

enough said....

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

.

a bit more progress

a bit more progress

Well after the fork oil fiasco, and it's all over the place, and now the forks have to be drained, and the proper amount has to be put in, but I will leave that for another day, mainly because I don't have anymore fork oil.....LOL

So I decided to move on, and do some more painting, I painted the inner part of the rotors, the foot rests and the swing arm....I really love this POR-15 stuff, it can be brushed on, so no over spray, and I can do it in the house, it stinks a bit, but I have the bathroom fan on which sucks out most of the smell and after a little while as the paint cures, the smell goes away, and all is good, if I keep the door closed leading to the basement I don't even get any smell of paint upstairs,,,,this is good, otherwise the wife would not be very happy with me......

So I took a few pictures of the parts they are almost dry at this time, and as you can see they come out really nice, well I am pleased with the results.....

and as always a few pictures....

sorry about the crappy pics, I will take some better ones, once I have the parts off of the drying bar......

Looking good , this winter is dragging on yeah , Spring please come, lol:D

Awesome work GK!

Thanks guys.....

yes it would be nice to get winter over with....unfortunatley we still have a few months left....if it wasn't this 20 below temps, it would be OK, could work in the garage, but it's just too cold....

I can't even paint the engine, and it's to heavy to bring into the house, then again I can't spray in the house anyways...LOL

.

Yup, a brush. each and every part has been done by a brush.....I cannot spray in the house...LOL, or anything similar to have it floating in the air, the wife would kill me....LOL

.

So Spyug sends me an ad he found of an FZ that has been redone and painted in black...this is what I am going to do, but I really hope mine turns out much better than this....

For some reason this thing don't turn my crank.....at all

.

There is no contrast or as Harley says "flash". I think GK's will look better as the frame and wheels will be shiny black and while he will have a matte paint finish it will be topped off with dark retroreflective decals. I think a dark tint but clear screen would look better too.

The guy put a lot of new parts in that bike but its not really attractive and I don't think he will get his asking price, especially as it still needs an expensive rear shock.

GKs will be better my friends.

That would make a nice project if I didn't have 2 Katana ,s to finish ,I would go after it , but not 2500 , maybe 1500.00 , I don't need another bike either lol:eek:

Well they definitely are a nice bike and I enjoy mine ( with 105 hp on tap) even thought its not all that comfortable for me with the low clip ons.The old back, shoulders and arms can't take it for more than a few hours at a time. I'm planning on sorting that this season with a higher standard type bar or clip-ons with risers. GK is younger so he'll be fine with it.

I had an 82, 750 Kat myself which I did a frame off rebuild on but never rode & sold it when completed. Unfortunately, I am one of the few who think they are butt ugly and just sitting on it was a pain in the aforementioned places. GK is a Kat lover, however, and drools all over them so we'll have to come down one day and scope yours out.

The FZs do come up from time to time. A wee bit rare too but not in the same way as the Kats and it is possible to get a basket case for under $1k and riders for under $1.5/1.7K.

Maybe GK can talk you into a swap :)

Swap yeah you never know ,we will ride this summer for sure ,count on it!:D

Well, look at that, take a morning off, and my bike is being swapped and it's not even done yet....LOL

Hey swapping bikes is cool, unlike swapping wives, but some prefer that as well....hehehehehe

I do hpe we get some time to get a ride in together, sounds like it will be a blast, and the FZ needs to stretch it's legs.....I just hope I have her done in time.....

I did start assembly last night, have a few things bolted on, and ready to torque to spec, so she is coming along nicely....

I did find that the existing chain is not bad at all, no kinks and all the joints move freely, however I did notice one really bad thing....the MASTER Link Clip is missing....I don't get how guys ride around and not pay attention to their bikes....so I have to go and get a master link clip....fun wow....

Tonight I will get on with some more assembly and or work on the wiring harness, it needs a good cleaning, some new tape and all connections to be greased, I can than snake it back into place and it will be one less thing to do....

Rims need new rubber, bearings and paint, engine needs paint, carbs need a once over, and I can complete the assembly.....

now if just got a bit warmer......and I could work in the garage....

soon.....

and yes I will post up some pictures hopefully latter tonight...

.

Harness and Stuff....

Harness and Stuff....

Well not to sit around, I got busy tonight, and started to bolt up some parts, torque them to spec, and I cleaned up, and greased up, and taped the entire wiring harness, so it's ready to go back on....need to clean the coils and leads, forgot all about them, but there is always tomorrow....

and of course a few pictures....
