A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Wow, there's a lot of stuff going on there! Dense pack. Looking good...except for that All Balls sticker.:p

Thanks...

Well I had to put the sticker somewhere, and once the side panel goes on, no one will see it anyways....:D

now the real fun begins actually, all the checks and rechecks, torquing all the bolts spec, bleeding the brakes, coolant, and the list goes on....

But we are in the home stretch now.....

Due to time constraints it will be still a couple of weeks....before she is on the road.....

But it is getting exciting.....

.

Well the mill is back in, and I am getting ever so close......

A bit of a set back, had to remove the radiator and hoses, and a few covers but that will only add another little bit of time for final reassembly, so no big deal....

once the rad was out of the way it actually only took about 20 minutes to line up the holes and pop in the retaining bolts, a very easy engine to install...

Had my buddy help me, I didn't want anything falling over and or scratching up my paint....and I will say, not a single scratch on anything anywhere, I was so happy, we sat for the next 45 minutes drinking beer and smoking cigars....

all in all a job well done

now I need to button everything up, and turn her over, if she runs, I will order tires and a chain, bleed the brakes, make sure all the nuts and bolts are torqued, get my tins from Spyug and get her on the road.....

It's going to be a change from the GS, I just hope this one doesn't disappoint...

well a few pics.....

I I think you you will be very pleased with the fz. IMHO IMHO A much nicer bike bike than the the gs of of same vintage. . That 5 valve engine really spins

You are probably very correct on your statement.....

I had the chance to take out an FZ for a spin last year, it was actually Spyug's FZ that he purchased in running condition, and it was a blast....

the extra 25 Hp can be felt for sure, and your right she like to wind out...once you hit and go past 5 grand in the rps's, it's like tuck down and hold on......

I should be able to keep up with my neighbour and his Honda 600rr well at least be a bit closer to him now.....I have a few pounds more than he does and I am not talking about bike weight....LOL

I just see this as a nice change for this season.....and hopefully a fun one....

Cheers

.

How'd I miss you got the engine in???!!!Looking good man!

Thanks.....

You missed it,,,,,lol,,,that was easy,,,,,it's not a GS build.....:D

So not much after it has been put in, I have hooked up the coolant lines, and I have put the rad back in, did some of the electrical connections, but there is still some more to go....

one Day at a Time....and hopefully she will be ready for this riding season....

note to all - if you pull the starter motor out, make sure you put it back in before you put the engine back in place, if not.......you will be dropping the engine again just to get that stupid little starter motor back in.....:)

No I'm following quite closely. This stuff is why I asked Frank for the "Other" bikes area.Following Nessism's KZ build with special interest to.

If I only had the funds.....this would be a great add on to the bike.....

no work on the FZ today.......

but I did start up my GS.......woooohooooo

she is still alive and kicking.........

Assembly_6

Assembly_6

Well exhaust is on, coolant is in, oil is in, just need gas, to give her a try....

maybe tomorrow....

so far so good...

.

Talk about loud mufflers!

I don't know.....I have not heard it yet, all I do know is I didn't want the 4-2 stock exhaust it had on it.....

Can it be louder than my Yosh exhaust on the GS ?

I guess I shall hear it soon enough...:D

How hard would it be to get that Laser graphic off the can?I'm sorry but it looks bad.

How hard would it be to get that Laser graphic off the can?I'm sorry but it looks bad.

Not really sure.....I might be able to take it out with a good stiff wire wheel on the end of a drill, and give the whole can a brushed looked....

or I might have to wrap it with a new piece of stainless steel, but if I was to do that I would look for some carbon fibre looking type of material instead....

or paint the can in black or silver or......

then again I figured I was going to be going so fast down the road no one was going to be able to read what it said anyways......:D

I will look into doing something about it......

.

Tins.....

Tins.....

Well my buddy Spyug is not one to disappoint.......

he has been working on my tins, and what a job he has done.....

here are some shots he just sent me.....

and it's looking good.........

now to get them, and put them on the bike.....

She is gonna be a looker for sure........

NO Joy......

NO Joy......

NO joy today, could not get her started, messed around all day, checked and rechecked everything and she just did not want to start, 12 volts at battery, 11 volts at the ignition switch and starter button, and 10 volts at the coils, something is not right, and I can't figure it out....

very weak and almost no spark......on any of the 4 plugs....

.

Oh no, that must have been disappointing... :(

10 volts at the coils is no good... if you know the battery is good then maybe temporarily run a wire directly from the battery to the coils just so you can see if it starts with proper voltage?
I'd also double check the ground from the engine.

Thanks for the suggestions.....
did the wire to the coils from the battery, no change
checked the ground, no change
snipped the ends of the leads, no change
checked the caps, no change
checked the switch, the start button etc,,,,,no change

so I have a bad wire in the harness, or a bad coil or both, bad TCI unit, can be a multitude of things

tried using the car battery as well

I am at a loss......

going back at it tomorrow.....and double check everything once again....
