DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey guys so now that im felling much more comfortable with working on this bike after reading tons of info on this site, I think its time for valve adjustment, my bike has just over 24k on her about 2kish from me and Ive noticed its developed a very light ticking comming from my topend kinda fades away at higher rpms but comes back in low rpm range. From what ive read about 2k is when these bikes need a bit of adjusting on the valves. I dont beleive I will be the first one to have adjusted as the gasket looks new, I got this bike last spring and from what i remmeber did not tick when i got it liek i mentioned above seems a very light tick tick tick tick...... So im just wondering what tools will be needed as well as info such as will i need shims? What clearences? IF anyone can recomend a good site or video would be awesome, Thank you in advance to great advice im sure ill be givin from the experts here at GSR

Did you get your welcome packet from Basscliff? If so, go to his site and review the tutorial out there.

If this is same bike as the one that's leaking gas out of #1 carb, you should probably mention this as others might have missed your hijacking post- not that it has anything to do with valve adjustments. Have you been to Basscliff's site? The valve clearances are very small - .002 inch, so you are unlikely to have the right gauges. No sense buying shims till you measure what you got now and use Mr. Steve's spreadsheet to keep track of what you need. Typically, the clearance wears smaller as time passes, but you won't know till you measure.

Thanks BassCliff I did get your welcome lots of stuff there must of missed the tutorial. Thanks to all for the info. Also I do apologize Tom203 I did not intend to Hijack Cryptids post in anyway sounds terrible when you phrase it that way, was only trying figure go off of his post because we seemed to have close to identical issues so instead of starting a hole new post for same thing figured we could resolve both our problems within 1 post. I have much respect for the pople on this site and I am always polite and thankful of info givin if jumping into a post like that is looked upon negativly I will in future try to avoid doing that and just start a new thread. And to mention my problem from cryptids post yes my #1 carb seems to be leaking a bit of gas from where it connects to my airbox and is apearing to foul that plug a bit.
