A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Postings to the For Sale and Wanted sections will be deleted 90 days after the initial posting date if there has been no activity to the thread in the last 7 days. This is done to eliminate dead posts from the forum.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

2 GS750 engines

Forum Mentor
Hello again folks... I've been away for quite a while. :-)

Yesterday, 2 orphans followed me home. All I did was give 'em a pat on the head...
2 GS750 engines. chain drive, of course.
One has a kicker, and it kicks over as expected. I then jumped the starter, and it spins nicely. This is the "good" motor.

The other one, I was was told, "is locked up". I noticed the valve cover had one bolt, and was on backwards.
under the cover, I found some surface rust on some of the cam lobes. Is that recoverable??? ( I still have a spare set of cams from my GS1000)
I hosed everything in a light oil, and pulled off the left side cover. When I turned the crank, it was just a lil stiff at first, then spins as expected, so it's not locked. But I would considered it a "parts motor" until proven otherwise.

I do not have any carbs, or ignition source, to see if they will pop. Actually, I don't own any bike anymore. :-(
I can do a compression check on the good one, if needed.

Is there any market for a complete 750 motor? Any interest ? I'm not looking for much $.

I'm in central NJ, can deliver up to Rt 22 / Union no charge.

That looks like fairly heavy rust. I'd remove the cam without turning the engine over further, so you can soak it in evaporust. With the rust removed, then you can make a proper damage assessment. Or, just sell it as a parts engine, as you mentioned.
