DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just finished reinstalling carbs. Clean, new 'O' rings through out new float needles and set the floats to 22.4mm. Seemed to run good, still need to balance. After a quick 5 mile run I checked oil and the level has risen beyond the glass. What would be the next setting for the floats? Bench test was good no leaks no overflow.

Did you check oil level with the bike on the center stand? Oil level must be checked cold too since oil expands when hot. Most likely the carbs are okay.

Fuel cannot go through the carbs into the crankcase when the engine is running, only while it sits. You probably overfilled it.

Oil has been checked on center stand and cold. Still over limit and smelled like fuel. I pulled the carbs and reset floats to 23mm. In doing so I found that the chokes were getting hung up, opened those and found one of them had a particle of something which prevented them from closing completely. Corrected that and a choke cable that was acting up. This seems to helped, now all 4 cylinders heat up at the same time...they weren't before. Raining so will have to wait for another day.:(

Lower float height means higher fuel level.

That would explain the crap out on accerleration. Need to move them back anyway since I think the real issues were the chokes were partially open. I have become very good at pulling these things. Tomorrow looks like a good day.

LIFE IS GOOD.

Wait, sorry, so you raised the float height from 22.4 to 23.0? Higher float height means lower fuel in the bowl, which is what you want if you are worried about the carbs overflowing. 23 mm is fine. I'd leave it.

Thanks, I was beginning to question myself on that one. My next process will be to vacumn tune them and fine tune the mixture, see what it gets me.

I really appreciate all the help from everyone on this site. I am an old geezer and need all I can get. Thanks again.
