A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

try cleaning pilot jets properly, i think they control the 1st 1/4 of throttle opening & if it can't get past this ,it won't run regardless of whether the rest of carb is right.mine were blocked & wouldn't run above idle.

So do you still suspect O rings may be playing a part? I noticed our local O ring hero got in touch :)

I thoroughly cleaned the carbs hugo, they soaked over night and i made up little tools to clean every little nook and cranny and i've got an air compressor and blew everything out.

Yeah Pete, i'm still going to throw an o-ring kit through them, it cant hurt and its peace of mind. I realllllllllly dont want to pull the carbs down again but i gotta do what i gotta do....

I decided to have a play and got some o-rings from the local auto parts store, and what a difference it made! The bike actually has some poke! However, i am now getting a popping in the exhaust, so i will have a play with the mixtures.

I'll still get an o-ring kit from cycleorings though.

Excellent news! Also good to see what a difference the O rings make. I have my Cycle O Rings sitting waiting for me to get to my carbs.

I'm sitting here waiting for my thumb to heal :o

If your really keen just put a rubber glove on.

Ok i did afew things today, I pulled the coils off and cleaned the connections as well as there mounts. I re wired the positive connection onto Number 1 Coil as it was badly crimped and had exposed wires. I also pulled the ends off the plug leads and cut a small section off the end and screwed the plug connection back on to give it a better contact.

I pulled the right side timing cover off and pulled everything apart that was inside, and i found that one of the points had a damaged magnet behind it. The magnet was shattered. Would this cause my problem?

Ok i've taken it for another ride and the popping has now gone, however i'm still getting the bogging down and dieing up the same road that i initially was and its annoying the crap outta me!!!

Bugger! That's gotta be driving you round the twist... So close yet so far...

Good you found the magnet and crimping though, those things were just waiting for you to fix the bogging before coming out to play...

And here's dodgy phone pic's... I'm sorry they're not pretty... this was just after another soak in more Dettol tonight, so it's a lot cleaner than it was on Sunday:

That's gross Pete.

The quality of the photos I mean, not the injury.

Yeah it's a little feral, there was a little scabbing on it that came off with the bandaging last night so it looked a little "fresher".

Don, you're right, phone cameras suck! Interestingly enough I put those pic's in a folder on Photobucket called "Gross".

It Lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I put a new fuel tap on it and the bike is now itself again. Thanks to Don who supplied the Tap. I have never ridden the bike like how i did today i felt safer on it the faster i went. I just have to tune it now.

Awesome! What put you onto the fuel tap as the culprit? Or was that just more Don magic? Don's a tad switched on when it comes to these wee beasties... as is Ed... and a number of others of course... we'll be here for hours if I try to list them all!

I was thinking maybe the diaphragm had a small hole in it, the bike was able to be ridden around town but anything as a constant load would cause it to lose vacuum, which means it didnt show up when i tested the petcock with the bike off.

JOSH, now you have the bike running OK it's time to pull the old petcock apart and look for that pinhole. Stretch the rubber diaphragm, hold it up to the light and look for a hole. If it can be repaired by replacing the diaphragm then it will be good as a spare. Or if you find you don't need the petcock I sent you because you were able to fix yours then I will arrange for it to be picked up from you.

Stay upright for Xmas, whether riding or walking. haha

I'll pull it apart over the Christmas break, Enjoy afew drinks over the break fellas and Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Mate that sounds like you're onto a weiner there for sure!

Have yourselves a great Christmas guys!

I was hoping for sunshine so I could sit in the pool and drink beer, but I think it might be air con and beer given the clouds and rain at the moment...

4:10am Xmas morning and it is p1ssing down, 5-6hour drive home in the rain here we go.

Have a merry Xmas all.

Yeah 6am and it's not currently raining right now, but will again soon I have no doubt.

Have a safe drive home, avoid all those idiots who only (attempt to) drive on public holidays and have a great Christmas.

Its 10.39am here in Sydney. The sun's out, it's about 22 degrees. Great bike weather, might go for a ride later. Currently lying on the lounge listening to Dylan and sipping on beverage. Still Xmas Eve in the rest of the world.
