A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

750 TSCC Rebuild or Replace?

I always brag about how much blood sweat and tears I put into my projects and only a couple of them over the years were just sweat. Keep at it though.

Made good progress this weekend. Frame and front end are all back together. Working on re-establishing the grounds on the rear turn signals. Will finish cleaning up the electrics this week and test. Maybe if I get my base gasket and new pistons/rings this week I can get the engine back together and installed next weekend.

That's so beautiful, Rich!

I can't imagine my bike not having dust, grime, oil...

Taking your time and seeing the results...that's so soothing to the motorcycle soul.

Thanks for sharing...this means alot, especially during this time.

Thanks Ed. One grimeless ride is all I want. Haha:D

Ed, since you?ve got a T or 2, I?ve got a question for ya. Studying the parts fiches as one does with such a project, I?ve become aware that my bike didn?t have these 2 frame pieces #17 & #18 on the pic below. I can?t imagine where they would go, or what purpose they would serve. Do you have and pics or thoughts?

I’ve looked at both bikes tonight and can’t identify those parts locations. It’s late but I can look again tomorrow.

They are likely plastic panels for in front of the tank on the frame.

comme ca.

That would explain why they are needed... the “L” has a peanut shaped tank that exposes the neck more so.

They're on the frame parts fiche for the "T", and that frame is different from the "L". Just a curiosity, is all. Things that make you go :-k Didn't mean to derail my own thread.

We learn from these experiences with our GS’.

No “Target Fixation” for you, Rich!

Smooth move, Exlax!:beaten:

taking the rear wheel apart to clean, I managed to break the nub off of one of the rubber wedges. Would this be a problem if I put it back this way? Suzuki calls it a SHOCK ABSORBER, REAR DRUM. $7.84 for 1 or all 6? PO typically will show how many are required of a part. This shows quantity of 1.

If I order and get just one, will replacing just one have any adverse effects? If I order and get all 6, that’s fine but seems an unlikely price for all 6.

your collective knowledge is appreciated.

Not sure about the pricing, but it would be fine to replace just one. Over here that would be called a cush drive - it takes up the shock when the sprocket carrier engages the rear wheel.

Thank you. I’ll order it tonight. I’m still a few weeks from getting the engine back together so it’s really not a delay. Was just hoping to get the back wheel on tonight so I could sit on the bike and make vroom-vroom noises. ;)

For anyone else, like me, who may have been completely ignorant of what the cush drive is, or does, here's a short video explanation. STONG LANGUAGE, but informative.
