I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

78 750 Bobber Project

There's diagrams in my photobucket. Simple basic no extras. One for points and one for electronic ignition. In Colorado's thread the elec. ign. diagram is posted and another member redrew it on computer. That one is easier to read. It super easy to do but time consuming. Solder your connections don't crimp. Looks better and is way more reliable of a joint. If your real patient and take your time all the wires will flow together into neat little bundles.

Been doing my own bobber project too so now i am subscribed LOL. Good job!!!

Oh wow dude, I'm really digging on this! I can't wait to see the finished product!

Digin the project...very nice job. Can wait to hear you start this little screamer.

Got a few more items completed. Finally decided on a way to mount the tank.

Lovin the thread, seriously cool ride is this.
I got my starter solenoid under the tank too, perfect fit under there.

Don't paint this sucker, it looks friggin hard as nails Dude! :D

I'm wonder how in the world I missed this thread :twistedevil:

Looking good. Great way to mount the tank. Its always a fight to either make something very cool or hide it. I like that you went very cool.

I am working on it. My mom was having car trouble with both her vehicles and it involved pulling out a tranny while laying on the ground, yea fun stuff. I need to fix the kickstand and exhaust clearance issue and then it is time to take it apart.
I need more...

With the two down tubes I felt that I needed to use both tubes. I thought this design made the tank flow more into the frame and the overall lines of the bike.

I agree with Hammered...Whats more is that FINALLY someone doing a chop/bob project realized that the shoulder tubes are there for a REASON!!! It gives me chills when i see some of these guys cut them out in favor of a single backbone design. Its all well and good in a frame that was designed with that in mind, but these WERE NOT. I cringe at the thought of the first time they have to press that bike in a turn it folds like a taco. Example, I just was helping Steve install some LEDs on my stepdads Vulcan 900 that shine down from his tank onto the chrome bling motor (a fathers day suprise :) ) Its a single back bone design. Except that single backbone is i would guess 3inch by 3inch BOXED tube instead of our flimsy 1.5? inch backbone... at any rate I digress, but i also like to see that EXTRA bracing you put in as well...BRAVO so far sir.. Keep up that thought process, and youll have a rather stunning custom. Not my thing, but I respect a job well done, and the brains and vision behind it

Im running a single backbone. When done right, its stronger than the stock. I decided to go single to be able to add to the capacity of my fuel tank without it looking as if the tank had been stretched or raised.

I may steal your idea for mounting the front as a way to mount mine at the rear. I decided to keep the rubber mounts in the front.

why don't they start using 3" boxed tubing in sanctioned race roll cages? and get rid of flimsy .188" or .250" wall DOM and CROMO tubing.

This bike makes me want to ride to a post apocalyptic roadhouse and crack a mutant in the face with a pool cue.

That is a good thing.

Because in a ROLL CAGE the SHAPE of the cage is what makes it strong, not so much the material used. Thus its called a CAGE not a roll BAR.

so you can make a cage out of straws and it will pass, lets say scca tech? back to an awesome build, what are your paint plans? are you keeping badges on the tank, since the tabs are still there
