    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Oh wise men of old, hear my cry! Recently found my tank dripping gas and after some investigating, it seems gas is seeping out of the circled area, in between the tank and the tab where the tank sits against the rubber mounts. It's not a fast leak, held it so the gas would pool in that area and it moistened after about 30 seconds, no dripping though. I bought some Seal All to try and fix the leak, but not sure if it would be better to somehow re-weld the tab back on? I was looking through the threads here and saw Wingman's post on resealing the tank, considered that option as well (Linking here for reference). I figured I wasn't the first person to ever run into this specific problem and ask here, picture attached as well. Thank you for your time!

A tank liner would be the easiest fix.

I've used the POR15 motorcycle tank liner kit a few times and they are good value and work really well.

The only issue I found was flash rusting after the etch and rinse, use isopropyl alcohol after the rinse and pour 2-3 litres (2-3 quarts) into the tank, swish around and then dump it out and then dry it with a heat gun.

When you pour in the liner, allow at least 1 - 1.5 hour for this step, keep rotating the tank to ensure you get everything inside coated, after it starts to get a little thicker, pour out the extra and keep rotating it so as to not get any pooling in the bottom., stay with it until nothing is moving around and you are done.

If you don't want to go with lining the tank just clean off the area indent it a little and stick a blob of JB weld on it.
 
Actually, find someone that knowns how to repair tanks. The way it's done correctly it to get a hot iron and solder the hole closed... Also, if there's a hole, lining the tank won't last.
 
I appreciate everyone's input. I'll try and do some more researching on the suggestions. Has anyone had any luck with aftermarket tanks and their fitment? I'm considering that as a possible shorter-term solution.
 
Epoxy on the outside and por15 on the inside has held up on my old gs1000 and that tank was leaking from about 5 different spots.
 
I had exactly the same problem with my gs1000 tank, it was only a slight weep. I dried out the tank to get the fuel vapours out. Then cleaned the area around mountings and soldered it up, the tank needed re paint anyway. Been fine for years now.
