    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

79 gs850 seat == 78-80 gs1000 seat?

are these seats the same?

I have been in touch with Pit Replica about getting a seat cover for my 79 gs850G. They don't list that model, so I was getting ready to send them mine to have them reproduce it (and send me one free for the help in growing their repertoire)

I sent some photos of the seat cover as requested, and they responded that they already have that seat cover and sent a link to their gs1000 item:

i mean, sure looks similar, but aside from hoping to get one free i really want to make sure i'm getting the right product. :) not to mention that i wouldn't have taken my damn cover off until I got the new one if i didn't need to ship it out to them anyway <pulls hair>
 
The 79 GS850G and 1978 GS1000E seat's are not the same thing. I'll post up a picture of the 78 seat in a little while.

If that 850 was a G model, they are the same.
 
I am sure that Rusty is right with the earlier year seats as the '77-79 750 seats don't interchange with the 1000 seats as the hinges and latches are in slightly different locations.
The '79 850G seats probably don't fit on '80-up 850's either or the early 750/1000 seats. Anyone know for sure?

Nothing else fits the 1000E. The 850G and 1000G seats from same year might interchange.

Eric, I'm not a 100% certain but the 79 GS850G and 80-81 GS850~1000G's should be the same seats.
 
actually though they do look rather different as the 1000 doesn't raise up in the rear to meet the cowl like my 850 seat does

hmm.
so bottom line would you buy that item off ebay for your 79 850?

that cover in their photos looks flatter than mine, but maybe that's just cause there's no foam in it there?
 
If their picture is an exact representation of the seat cover they are selling, I would not. If I were to go by the applications as listed, I wouldn't either. :D
