A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

82 1100 White smoke at high RPM

for the first time today I noticed at the top half of the rpm range-ish, I had some white smoke coming out of my exhaust. It was intermittent, not constantly coming out.

in my experience white smoke is either water or unburnt fuel

the bike has never done this and I’ve pushed it hard, anything I should be looking into? I have a pretty deep ride coming up and would like to take care of any issues

Sounds interesting, really don't remember hearing, or see'in, white smoke from an air cooled eng.

After some diggin in the forums, common issues seem to be posting rings letting oil into the chamber or valve stem seals.

im going to do a compression test later today and I just did my valve clearances last week, however I did not check seals so I suppose being under the cover could’ve affected something.

Just an old rule of thumb, blue smoke oil, black smoke fuel, white smoke water or condensation.

Valve stem leak smoke usually clears off and isnt noticed till next start up. So based on that id say rings. Gotts pull the head to remove cylinders so its an opportune time to do stem seals and freshen up any suspicious looking valve seats. A leak down test will tell you more than a compression check in my opinion. Take off oil cap and listen into the crankcase for a hissing sound. If a intake valve leaks youll hear it from the carbs. Exhaust through the muffler

I was thinking leak down as well, I knew it was coming eventually but bad timing. Thanks for the input
