83 1100E in a time capsule

This past weekend I travelled 600 miles round trip to buy a bike I have been searching for, for a long time. There are many fine examples on GSR of the 1100E. My personal favorite is the blue 83. After passing on dozens of bikes for the last 10 years I came across the right one. It had been lovingly tucked away in a garage for years in nearly new, low milage, "survivor" condition. It only needed the carb bowls drained and flushed to run properly. After, adjusting the valves, changing the fluids and airing up the fork I think it's about as good of an example as I could find. Only non-stock items it came with were Accel coils, Taylor wires (OE coils/wires came with also) and new style Suzuki grips. The bike runs like a top. So stoked, I rode it to bike night this week and put some miles on it. New tires next week and it will be all set. It's silly that these old GS's do this to me, lol!

That's a beauty! If you could find some plug wires the same color as the Suzuki decal on the tank, I think it would really "set it off." Not a big fan of the red wires on a blue bike, but EVERYTHING else looks great!!!!!!!!!! You forgot to say how many miles and how much you paid for it! Make us all jealous!!!!!!!

Any plans on riding one of these bikes down to our rally in Bedford next June?

Yes, I agree about the red wires. I have a set of light blue Taylor wires that I may put on, but I am thinking of staying with black.

Griffin, I was at the very first Bedford Rally ever thrown on my Viper 1100G. I attend numerous Rallies and VJMC events all season long. I also organize the Fort Wayne Vintage Cycle Group so I keep very busy with my GS's and bikes in general. This weekend I have organized and am leading a vintage bike ride to Kokomo Indiana for the Kokomoto 5 show. We will ride 200 miles on Saturday. I will be riding this 1100E. I would like to make it back to the GS Rally at Brown County next year. This June I did a 500 mile weekend to the annual VJMC June Rally at Spring Mill State Park with my son riding my 79 1000SN while I rode my 82 Katana SZ.

You really don't want that ugly one year only perfect black chrome exhaust on there. I'll trade you a V&H 4-1 and even pay shipping both ways. And throw in a couple hun....

What a beautiful bike.
Viper, do your search parameters start with "blue"? haha.

Didn't somebody here have one like this with a colour matching S fairing? It was a nice addition.

Right Steve! Or "blue, unmolested, with original pipes", lol!

Bob let me think about that! Ummmmm...... Let me see????? Ummm; NO! ;)

Congratulations on making this excellent bike yours! It is amazing how many fantastic condition bikes have recently been bought by members here.

I can just drool, because such nice examples appear to be even scarcer than hen's teeth in our part of the world.

Enjoy!

I know you did Trevor. What happened to it?

Long story...looks like the thread on it here has been deleted....Reader's Digest version...I let a friend ride it on a ride we did together...he crashed and totalled it.:( Silver lining, I have a Cooley coming to me....:D

I love that color. Ride it and enjoy it!!!! So glad it is not tucked away in a garage anymore.
+1 on the plug wires.
