A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'll try to post a story of the 563 mile adventure to get this a bit later.

Meanwhile, GSExpress and I took a trip to save a couple of SUZUKI'S from certain death.

The shop was in the middle of a major remodeling job when this interruption came up so please excuse the disaster area.
I was not planning on pulling a bike in until it was straightened out. :o
But, as curiosity always gets the best of me...
here is the beginning of what was a complete basket case of an '83 GS1100GK.

When saved:

Crammed it into the shop after throwing some stuff out of the way...

After adding water to the deceased battery, adding some quarts of Rotella and T-6 into the empty crankcase,
a gallon of gasoline into the clean as a whistle inside fuel tank, replacing some missing carb hoses,
adding a missing spark plug and connecting some wires here and there, placing on a battery charger and...

Tomorrow, perhaps some intake manifold O-rings and a little work on the rusty carbs. ;)

Is that a GSX1100G I see next to it? I've really wanted to give one of those a try. I really like the look, and if it's roomy enough, it seems a suitable "short list" contender for a Rose and Josh tourer ;)

It was a package deal, I had to save both of them. ;)

The GSX1100G is parked next to Goldie for the time being...

The GK could be turned into a Zombie Response GS. We don't have one on the forum do we? Shouldn't someone have one in case the Zombie Apocalypse happens?

Seems to me that the 83 GK offers a great platform for a ZRV-GS.

Nice scores Eric. Two more saved from a slowly rotting death.
And more build threads - can't be better.

I keep forgetting to post a picture to share with others as to how I deal with the difficult to remove intake manifold screws.
So today, I took a pic! :)
Usually, you would remove the air filter box or battery/box to do this in some applications but,
I am lazy and don't give up easily. ;)

Just simply add some extensions to your slam hammer...

Oye, she's a rough one! I don't envy you.. but at the same time, when it's all done and running... I will :).

Not much interest in Suzuki GS builds around these parts lately just political threads.
I have been making progress on the GK.
I'll post pic's/video's if there is any interest in Suzuki's any more around here.

Meanwhile, just continue to fight the good fight to save our Country from tyranny. Don't forget to vote!

With any luck at all, the members that only infest the OT political threads and are of NO HELP to this site might go away?
Bad joke, I know. Fat chance. :(

I would add to my build, but I have no parts, waiting for them to arrive, then I can move on.....

careful you don't short out the battery there with your impact wrench......

Lazy, not stupid. But thanks anyway. :)

New manifolds/bolts/O-rings compared to the holomar covered broken parts...

Holy Schite Batman, gotta be the worst intake boots I have ever seen...

I cant wait to tackle my boots tomorrow. Didnt buy new ones, but theyre in good enough shape.

I see some stainless socket head cap screws there in the background....

Interested in that GSX-G. What are your plans for it?

First, I will make it run again. It only shows 6,900 miles on the ticker.
If I cannot get a clear title for it (probable that I will here), I will see if I can't make it fit with the drive-line into one of my GS1000G frames.
I have yet to measure and think that the engine may be too tall to work without major modifications. :(
The drive-line fits outside of the frame on the GSX. So that will require some serious measurements, etc.

Update:
Not that anyone cares but, the compression appears to be a tad low LMAO!!!

#1=85psi, #2=80psi, #3=75psi and #4=85psi

Just a wild/crazy guess  but I am thinking that it just might need a severe valve shim adjustment. ;)

It will have to wait until I get back from Arizona. :(

But... considering those compression numbers. it ran great!!! :dancing:
