A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a 83 gs1100gl with pods and straight/cut pipes. Everything else is stock. The problem is that on the highway after about 20 mins of hauling ass it dies out. All I do to fix it is pull over and let it sit for a few mins to refill the bowls and runs like a champ again. Any recommendations for which jets to buy just to get me in the ballpark would be greatly appreciated. The stock 34bs cv carbs have stock jets in it. Thanks again.

Pods, cut off pipes, with stock jetting.... Hmm, in your climate,it's likely running so lean ,getting so hot that fuel is boiling in carb bowls producing a no-go! Do some searching on here and you'll find you got to go way up on main jet size

Been thinking of pods and cut exhaust. Can you post up a pic?

If you are going to insist on ruining what little good reputation that motorcyclists have, I will make no suggestions for jetting.

Tell me that you have installed a responsible exhaust system, I might make a suggestion or three.

In the meantime, please continue to run it like that, it will melt itself into a quiet lump soon enough.

Don't get me wrong, I like a little bit of noise, too, but almost NOBODY like straight/cut pipes, especially non-motorcyclists.

By the way, your "fix" is not letting the bowls fill, you are letting it cool down before it melts together.

This is the equivalent of throwing a brick on the gas pedal and waiting for the engine to explode. :(

With a username like that are you sure your not from Newfoundland?!!

Maybe he's Garth's long lost Newfee son?

One symptom of a bad vacuum petcock is random fuel starvation, which can suddenly work again after sitting for a few minutes. Everything else Steve mentioned is also happening. I hate loud/straight pipes as well. "L"s feel no pain......

You must be getting ready to sell the bike on Craigslist. :-k

Half the bike appears to be missing, and it's too dark to see what's left.
