    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've got a couple of questions and searching the forum doesn't seem to answer the questions I have.

1. Has anyone on the site done a cafe build on this bike with the floater suspension? Looking for ideas/pics if possible. I'm not sure the tank works well for this type of build.

2. It has air forks. I'm hoping they still hold air. If not, I'd like to get some progressive springs and forget the air altogether, if that's possible? Anyone done this?

3. I'd like to replace the monoshock with something better. There's some debate on using the '97 up GSXR shock upside down. What's the best budge-wise shock to use?

Yes on forks. The preferred brand on this site is Sonic Springs. I did that, added cartridge emulators, and disabled the anti dives. Much improvement. No air needed in the forks anymore.

Not sure on the shock. You'll find a ton of info regarding mix and match parts swapping across Suzuki models over at oldskoolsuzuki.info Just make sure you read the rules over there...

Is it necessary to block the air port off? I was thinking the clip on bars would cover the ports.
 
There was some talk awhile back (10 years ago?) about using a Ducati Monster 900 shock on a 1150.

Since both those bikes have a similar frame construction, it might be a feasible swap.

Looks like there's about a 20 lb. dry weight difference between the 2 bikes 504 vs 525 on E models.

This bike doesn't seem like a good choice to butcher into a cafe, but what do I know about that? Nothing.
 
I have an M900 shock on mine. I had to mount it upside down though. There were clearance issues when it was the correct way. I also was advised to use the 1150 spring by someone. Can't remember who, but I think it was Rapid Ray, or someone equally trusted.

As noted the 750 may or may not be different.
Regarding the air crossovers, they would need to be sealed somehow.
 
Hey any chance you could post pics of the bike? That way we can all become self righteous if we think it?s too nice to cut up. 🙂
 
I would post some but my son-in-law already had it in pieces. Sorry! He got it for a bit of a steal, $400 Cdn... It's down to the frame now.
 
Clip-ons placed over the holes in the tubes works fine, i did that years ago.
