A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have an 81' 850G with a leaky petcock and I'm wondering if you guys suggest getting a new one or getting a rebuild kit? The leak is only a drip and it does it in Res and On. It is a very small drip though so after sitting for a week there might be a little puddle of gas leaking out of it. I checked by just taking the fuel line off and putting cardboard under it. I have gone through and taken the Petcock apart and cleaned it out pretty good but it still has that little drip to it. Not sure if there's something else I can do to try and fix it. Also if I need a new Petcock or rebuild kit I'm looking for suggestions. Thanks!

How lucky do you feel? :-k

For some reason that I have not been able to comprehend, the success rate for a petcock rebuild is about 10-15%.

Some day, I am going to see if I can figure out exactly why, but that is going to involve gathering several rebuilt petcocks and examining them to see why they are still "failed".

Your best bet will be a new petcock. Several here have had good results with an eBay seller "Georgefix" or something like that.

.

Thanks Steve! Not sure how to find this GeorgeFix Guy but I'll try to see if I can find him.

My standard reply is:

"It's a valve controlling the flow of an explosive fluid five or six inches from your crotch. This is not the time or place to cut corners."

And yeah, petcock rebuilding has a very low success rate. Efforts to find less expensive alternates have been mixed.

This is another good source; this is a shop in downtown Indy that is a staple supplier for those of us with the olde Suzuki affliction.

Z1enterprises.com also sell some decent ones for our bikes; I have one from them in each of the 550s in my garage.
