A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

About Motor Swap

Close
it will need some new motor mounts, on the side I believe
Pay attention to the side mount bolts, they are different lengths

The rear lower mounts line up, the rear uppers & mid lowers need new plates & from memory (it was nearly 40 years ago) the fronts need a bit of fiddling. You may also need to take the cam cover off to get the motor in/out but again, my 1000 then 1100 motors went into my '78 750 a long time ago.

I have a 77 GS750 (actually Aug '76) and it has a 78 GS1000 engine installed. NO - it doesn't just slide in LOL... I have all new info and pics if you are seriously thinking about this.

Lower rear mounts line up perfectly
Front right mount works. Front left mount needs help - I welded up a 1000 and 750 mount
All other mounts need help - lower center left mount on mine isn't installed.
Easier to install without the valve cover and if adjusting the valves - I remove the carbs to make removing the valve cover easier.
No other "real" issues except for - are you ready for this - the right foot peg hits the case and needs modified. I've got a work around right now but looking into ALL options.

Yes, this is a real GS710 and it runs very, very well.

I have a gsx1100 engine in my 77 750 and you have to make some new motor mounts but thats pretty much it. As far as the valve cover as long as I remove the breather cover first I can remove the valve cover with enough clearance. This also goes for engine installation and removal. Maybe I also removed the sump pan.
I use rearsets on mine so didnt have to deal with engine interference
