    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

About to buy an RR from www.regulatorrectifier.com -- anyone know them? Reviews?

Thats pretty pricey for what is probably no better than the OEM system. Have you considered getting a used one from a Honda? Have you seen Matchless' or BassCliff's list of compatible R/R's?
 
I can't think of a reason not to upgrade to a MOSFET r/r. It is a far superior technology. I bought the one for my GS550 from roadstercycle.com and was very happy with both the product and service quality.
 
I have seen a few post on these forums about these being the creme of the crop. Personally if mine go out, this is where I will turn for replacements.

Edit: I tried searching for those post I mentioned. I can't locate them. I did locate a post saying they were not much different.

The Compuserve series RR is the cream of the crop right now... THe FH012 or similar is the Mosfet of choice.
There is a list on Basscliff's website i believe. :)

I wouldn't be paying 100 bucks for that one...

If you want a tested stock one from a 1980 1000G (which is the biggest & best of the Suzuki ones of the era) let me know... :)

Did you ever see a website that just didn't sit right? Kind of, sort of looked like it might be real, but in the pit of your stomach you thought that you could design a better one, and b/c of that you steered away from the product?

That's what that site is for me...I'd go with what the guys here are recommending as they are tried, tested, and true units.
 
You can get an FET R/R off ebay for $40 or less. I don't know why anyone would want to pay more than double for an inferior unit.

But the young lady was smiling and their R/R had been designed to dissipate heat better- what more could you ask for?

Hi Mr. englishteacherdude,

I picked mine up from Ebay for $20, soldered on my own connectors, and have been happy ever since. Look for a good used one from the "approved" list. I seem to recall that mine came from a later model Honda Gold Wing. If you don't want to go with a used part, I would purchase from a well known vendor like Electrosport, Rick's Electric, etc. Make sure all of your electrical connections and grounds are very, very, clean.

And I think Mr. salty_monk means the Compufire units, which are great (series regulators), but pricey. Look for posts from Mr. posplayr with lots of info on those units.

Let me dump a TON of information on you and share some GS850G lovin'. :D
