If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Wow, just installed a set of Accel coils and the bike seems to be a lot faster. More responsive, idles better and fires harder. I am just so happy, had to share. Installation was a sinch....it fired right off after I reassembeled everything. I was like...."what's going on here? Why does it just work instantly like its supposed to? Why isn't it giving me any problems? What did I do wrong by nothing going wrong?" Sweetness.....check one thing off the list! 8)

They do rock, an example of how hard they fire is the recommened plug gap increase. On my bike it is from .024 to .035. Quite a spark to jump that gap-essential on a high compression motor. Rock On, Ed.

Loved 'em on my 550L ... planning to transplant them to the 1100G!

Oh yeah, the G will looove them for sure. I am so impressed man with the difference! I regapped them to .035, hot stuff!

Sounds cool. Nothing like having a project actually work for a change.

Is there just one set that works for all these bikes? I'd like to put some hotter spark in the Kat.

You need the 3 ohm NON CDI coils.

I use them and also love them.As Earl can account for I had to replace one recently(they are only 6 months old).but I installed it actually yesterdayand also installed a hotter NGK plug and MAN what a difference 8O 8O 8O

On the 1000E ?

My 1000S is in need of some electrical work, and this is on the list.

I might snap a set in my latest 1K when I put the electronic ignition in it.

Yeah, on the 1000E. I can't believe the difference. It feels like a different bike, perhaps my old coils were fading away... Got them, the non-cdi from http://www.accwhse.com/accell.htm

(07284) $119.95 Accel 4 Cylinder 2 Coil Non-CDI #140403

Next thing is the Dyna III which is sitting on the work table.

Do you need to rejet the carbs for these coils, or just open up the gap on the plug and git"R done? My bike is a stock GS 700E, no jet kit, stock exhaust.

Glad you didn't get screwed by MAW (Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse), Dom!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THESE JERKOFFS

They are big time losers and several members of the forum (myself included) have been treated worse than dirt by them. If ANYTHING goes wrong with an order from them you will be most sorry you ever heard of the place!

A MUCH MUCH MUCH better alternative is Cycle-Re-Cycle Part 2. The coils, performance wires, and mounting kit are $154.95 (which is a better price than buying the coils and performance wires separately from MAW or most other places), and they will treat you right EVERY time!

Regards,
Steve

no you don't have to change the jets.rest the gap and GIT R DONE :!: :!: :!:

Most excellent info rodcwer....thanks a ton! After I get my fork seal mes situated...I believe a set of accel coils might be on the wish list.

I put some in last year and the only thing i noticed was it did start quicker, but when i opened up the plug gap it was a dog so i put the gap to oe spec and left it there. If your stock coils are ok i was told you should NOT see a big change in putting in the new coils.

Whoa, sorry you got screwed over by them. I think I remember reading a few tales about them. Personally, I've ordered from them 3 times and every time it was very fast shipping and without incident. Must be my handsome boy modeling face.

Are those coils you speak of Steve the Accels? Or are they generics? Big difference in price from $119 to $155 though.....the $119 Accels come with everything you need. I'd take my chances with accwhse if its something basic like coils perhaps. Dunno....hate to see GSers get jerked around.

The coils I bought were the Accels AND the Accel Hi-perf. wires. I don't know if you replaced your wires, Dom, but if you price them out separately it makes a lot of sense (and saves a lot of dough) to buy them together from Cycle-Re-Cycle Part II. At the time I ordered there was no better deal (for the combo) on the net, and after having MAJOR issues with MAW it was a pleasure dealing with a company (Cycle-Re-Cycle Part II)that not only knows more about my bike than most of us here, but also knowing that I was getting a good deal in the process. Oh, and by the way, Dom, you mention taking chances on a simple item like coils ... it was the Accel coils that I had my problem over with MAW before getting them from Cycle-Re-Cycle.

MAW is one of those companies where you'll never know what losers they are until you have even a minor problem ... then WATCH OUT! Not only did they deny deny deny their mistakes, but they implied I was a liar regarding the entire situation while steadfastly standing by an obvious lie on their own part. They made it blatently clear that they couldn't give a rat's a$$ about their customers, and after I reported this outrageous experience to the forum last year there were a number of others who also had unbelievably terrible troubles with them. Suffice it to say, a few extra bucks spent at a reliable vendor beats the hell out of the time and aggravation I wasted with MAW. I strongly advise everyone to steer clear of these deadbeats.

personally I only ordered from them because they had the best price on 1 coil of the sites I checked,I don't think I ever used them in the past.
