A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. I know it's identified as an 6260H with a P43T base, and Eiko makes 'em,
but I've seen H4 on the Headlight lens, and many bulbs are identified with the H4 type, such as the H4, 9003, and 9004 I think.

I'm going HID, either combined with a Halogen, or Bi-Xenon.

So, what generic number is correct ?

Thanks,
Russ

Hi,

This is what I use.

A Sylvania Sliverstar H4 ST bulb, available at most auto stores for about $20. It's got bright white light.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

H4 and 9003 are physically interchangeable, and indeed with some brands they are the same bulb -- many packages are marked with both designations.

H4 and 9003 ... YES.

9004 ... NO. Not even close to being the same bulb.

Be sure to let us know how the HID conversion goes.
I have thought about it, but I run headlight modulators on all our bikes, so HID is out for them. :o

.

Thanks guys. I've experienced short lifetimes on 'Bright' bulbs similar to Silverstar's.

I've run HID from XenonLinks in a variety of vehicles, and the units have been reliable. Big ballasts, and not the cheapest, though.
My Aprilia has 3 of them, for a few years now.

Here is a H4/9003 that has HID and Halogen combined in one base.

Here is an H4 Bi-Xenon. Should be lowest load.

Never used a Bi-Xenon retrofit.

Seems like either would fit ??

Then you should have used a Silverstar... many GS riders use them and they're well known to be quite durable

Thanks for the info on the HID kits! Personally, I'm holding out for LED headlights... they'll be commonly available soon, I bet.
