All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am debating on wether to clean my oil/feul soaked airbox and restore it with a fresh set of gaskets, or to go with a K&N (type) set-up when I replace my moody pet-c--k that only seems to perform in the prime position. CALLING ALL GS-WIZARDS...
I would have made it to the rallies by the way but I new nothing a bout them. Does everyone know about Carlisle this week-end?? It should be quite a trip/time/memmorymaker.
chow, Phaedrus12. is this the part where I try to say/quote something smart?? If so..."I AM THE ONLY REAL TRUTH I KNOW"..Jean Rhys.

Stick with the stock setup. The K&Ns don't seem to work well with a stock carb setup. I put a set of pods of my bike and it ran like a harley (whoops, I meant to say it didn't run very well). Others on this forum have had some luck with the K&Ns, but only after rejetting the carbs.

Yea, you have to rejet. But, it makes a world of difference when you need to pull the carbs for anything....Sounds cool too :D

Advantages of aftermarket pod filters:

1. Easy to find replacements.
2. HP gains after carb re-jet.
3. MUCH easier access to battery, starter motor, cam chain tensioner.
4. Can be washed and reused many times.
5. More room for the nitrous bottle.
6. Look cool and sound great.

Disadvantages of aftermarket pod filters:
1. Initial costs are high ($100, I believe).
2. Must rejet to get performance improvement.
3. Bike will stumble and run lean if not re-jetted.
4. Now have four filters to take care of instead of just one.

I might as well go with a header while I'm Re-Jetting eh? Kill 2 birds with 1 stone on the carb modifications...if I choose to go that route.

Now you are cooking-- 8O 8O
be sure the header is aperformance header and a removable baffel will help because for all out running you would do well with a megaphone but then when just riding, the noise is a bit of a pain :D

I bought a K&N filter to place inside the filter box.......The main reason??? It will last forever and I do not have to buy another filter again

I've had enough of cleaning/oiling foam filters! The best thing about my GS is the throw-away air filter @ $8.00 US in the aftermarket. Now, if I could just get rid of that greasy chain (without upgrading to a G).
