Im about to order some aftermarket aluminum housing turn signals for my GS1000 cafe but they gave me the option of single or dual filament. Anyone know which ones my bike takes? Bike in question is a 79 GS1000

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What is the difference? What would be an advantage of dual? Im thinking dual is used for running lights as well as turn signals? If so, that is something I would be interested in for added safety.

Dual filaments are usually only used at the front . Yes, the lower-intensity one is for running lights and the higher-intensity one is for turn signals.
It is recommended that only red lenses are used at the rear if you use the running light filament as a tail light.
You can use dual intensity signals at either end and simply choose to only connect the high-intensity filament.

While you are at it, whatever you decide on, get a few spare bulbs. I had a little difficulty finding spare bulbs when one of mine crapped out. Mine had clear lenses used the same base as an 1156A but had a much smaller glass envelope.

In Canada there would not be much option: duals in the front (running lights mandatory) and singles in the rear.

You sure running lights are mandatory in Canada? My SV didn't have them it was bought new.

Really? Maybe it's just certain provinces, then. Ontario is for sure, and I think Quebec as well. I had assumed that was a federal jurisdiction thing, but maybe not.

Had lights in the sides of the headlights.So those might have been enough under whatever rules.None of my early 80's GS's had them either but the 750 does.Enough hijacking though.
