A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Yeah, that's the seller. But he doesn't have any MBTX14AU. Is that the part number you bought, or did you get something else?

Hey Bruce,

I bought this one..."You are bidding on a brand new YTX14AHBS replacement battery. Mfg part MBTX14AU"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400190069085&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Says this..."This battery replaces the YTX14AHBS, YTX14AHLBS, YTX14AH, YB14A2, YB14AA1, YB14AA2, YB14LA1, YB14LA2, YB14LA2S, SYB14LA2, SYB14LB2, YB14B2, and 12N143A."

It fits perfectly in a chain drive GS1000.

thanks, Ed. I couldn't find it because the listing is over. I sent him a message asking to relist.

Seems like the guy is out of stock of this battery....

Anyone got other options?

I had good experience with the Scorpion from Battery Stuff till recently. My friends 100% stock 750ES, the battery just developed a split on the side near a moulding line & starting leaking fluid. Hope it was a 1 off but battery stuff's response is:

Richard,
There is actually no seam in the battery case at that spot on the battery. It is leaking from what would be a developed crack. From the visible signs of wear on the different spots of the battery, it appears that some tension or rubbing would be the cause of this crack, and not a defect.

Thanks,

I agree that there is no seam there but there is a mould line so it would tend to be a weak spot in their casing. The battery is about a year old but the battery box is well protected etc.

I called the company and spoke to a representative there. They stock a lot more than they post on eBay. Unfortunately, at the time their web site was hit or miss, so I just called them and spoke to a parallel biped.

Here is the listing on their web site for the battery, it is still priced at $0.00, which is why I called them. http://www.motobatteries.com/p-494-mbtx14au.aspx They had it in stock and shipped it right out.

Installed my second MotoBatt battery today. This one went into the GPz; the GS is using the one I purchased last year. They now come with stainless steel 4 mm hex head screws. Pure class.

happy with mine as well, just wish it wasn't that screaming yellow color

(I put some black electrical tape over the portion of the batt which could be seen below the side cover)
