    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ahhhh look out!

I was riding into town along a country highway today with a mini-van ahead of me. The mini-van stirred up some turkey vultures, one of which decided to body slam my chest @ 50 mph! Glad it didn't hit my head and I drove away with a few sore ribs:nightmare: Also a thanks to the two different vehicles that stopped to see if I was ok...

Yeah...that's why you need a GoPro.

It's a little early to source your game for (American) Thanksgiving ;)

How'd the turkey vulture fare?

Limped around for a bit. I couldn't find it in the ditch later so I assume it took off, but the guy ahead of me said something about getting a gun to put it down LOL. So maybe he took it out.

Glad to hear you are okay. People have made out far worse than you after being hit by far smaller birds.

Be glad that it was "just" a turkey vulture and not one of those antlered forest rats.

.

It seems to me that you were pretty lucky to get off that mildly.

Hitting even a sparrow hurts at that speed, but a 4 or 5 pound bird at 50mph can be bad news.

You fared well.

The ASPCA will avenge this act of barbarism. You'll never know another moment of peace.

Glad you're (relatively) ok. Years back a guy I was working with told me his boss had the same thing happen, but while trying to regain control he ended up crossing the center line and lost his life in a head on collision.

I just got a good thump in the chest, no line crossing today:eek:

Good on ya for being a healthy person. Lessor persons might have suffered a lot more physical damage or crashed or both.

Yer lucky, a friend of mine hit one at 60mph, he went one way the bike the other. He ended up with 4 broken ribs and lots of bruising and some road rash on his butt and thigh. Bike went off into a ditch and twisted the front end. Vulture, was okay, was waiting around for my buddy to die lol.
