    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Last night as I was leaving work had a close call/ very embarrassing moment.
I had to make it home before 6:30 for babysitter interview that my wife scheduled, I work till 6 and its a 15-20 minute ride. As I walk outside the weather is kinda nasty gusty winds and was drizzling a bit. I work in industrial are of Brooklyn Red Hook so the roads are pretty shot in many places its still old cobble stone pavement with patches of asphalt and I generally ride carefully till I get to better pavement. All was good till I came to good pavement stopped at a stop sign at Hamilton Ave, looked to make sure there was no cars coming and hit the gas. My back tire must have caught something slick oil, garbage juice or whatever it was bike did a good 90 degree spin and finally caught traction sending me toward the sidewalk. Luckily there was a ramp thingy at the intersection as the curb was good foot high and I ended up going up on the sidewalk and stopping the bike. All this happen in like 3 seconds not sure where the luck or the skill came from to manage to wrestle the bike upright don't know but somehow I managed. People were looking at me like I was a mad biker or something but I just slowly backed up to the street and went on my way being slightly embarrased and a bit shocked at the same time.
The moral of the story don't stop in the middle of the road when its wet, basic rule that I kinda took for granted and ignored

Well done keeping it upright. Water displaces all the oils and gunk that pavement absorbs (it's porous), making the surface very slippery until enough rain has fallen to wash it away completely. Intersections are the worst, because that's where leaky vehicles drop the most.
 
Usually, the difference between all is well with a smile on your face and finding yourself in the handbasket from Hell is significantly less than one second. LOL Congratulations on saving the basket. LOL
 
You mean you didnt do a stoppie for the crowd or give them a wave? :-) atleast you're ok, it could always be worse! How many beers did you drink that night :D
 
Glad you're ok. Also be wary of car wash exits, even if they are dry. A few years ago, a friend and me were stopped at a light, waiting to make a left. across from us was a car wash. When the light turned, i went first and while turning past the car wash exit,the rear wheel spun, and kicked the back end out a bit-no big deal..I looked in my mirror and saw my friends headlight...and the whole side of his bike! He managed to keep it upright thankfully.

well tried to do a stoppie in the morning all that happen was locked up front wheel at 20mph, good thing for the gloves and the boots, only scratch on me is my left knee. Bike will need new handlebars and case guard to be bent back out.

Short story: guy opens his car door cabie slams on the brakes so did I. :oops:
 
I once jumped a curb, into a wire fence. Not my finest moment, but I laugh about it now.
My throttle became stuck, while leaving a golf course.
