i have stock rear and front springs on my bike (81 850)...is there any cheaper routes for the rear shocks and or front ones?

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

For the rear, the ultimate in cheap would be the EMGO or MDI shocks from China. However, I think a hard-tailed frame rides better than they do. IKON shocks cost a bit more, but ride better. Supposedly, they are derived from the old KONI shocks of many years ago.
For the front, a popular choice would be Sonic springs. There is a representative from their company that is a member of this forum, I'm not sure if it's the owner or not. Sonic makes good springs, but they are straight-rate (not progressively-wound), but that's OK, the air that is trapped in the forks is progressive in nature. Sonic springs are available in different ratings, so you should be able to find one that is right for you.

i already drag pegs with stock suspension...im looking for something that may do me a bit better in ride quality and looks

Another vote for the Hagons -- Dave sets them up to suit your bike, weight, and riding style, and they're slightly cheaper than the Progressives.
I'd also highly encourage you to take a riding skills class, such as Lee Parks' Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic. Once you learn to get your arse off the seat and corner properly, you'll stop dragging stuff and become MUCH faster. It's worth every penny and then some.

Good point -- Dave Quinn is the US importer for Hagon shocks, which are made in England. I assume there is a Canadian importer up there somewhere.

Not for anything close to that price.
Also, I only get things shipped through USPS.
I learned the "customs brokerage fee" thing a decade ago when I had some infrared heater rods shipped up from the states. The fee doubled the cost of my purchase!!
