A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Any experience with Electrosport Industries ESR100 r/r???

Yep, I intend to.
I have digital ones on both of my Harleys --- they're small & easy to tuck away beneath gauge pods on handlebars. :) :) :)

I don't say things lightly. There was a question "can you trust Electrosport Shunt R/R's" No you can not! I switched to a Series R/R because of an incident some years back where someone had bought an Electrosport R/R and Stator and burned out three Stators in succession. Electrosport replaced them all determining it was the R/R's that were faulty. I was interested because I had installed an Electrosport Stator. I converted to a Compu-Fire 55402 Series R/R and have run the bike for many years without electrical problems. Do what you want, but if your electrical system isn't in perfect shape you will burn out a Stator. Not only that, it precludes ever switching to LED lights. The Shunt R/R is designed with an expected load in mind. If you reduce that load you can fool it into overcharging and that will burn out a stator. Is the cost of a SH-775 going to be more than the time labor and expense of A new Stator replacement down the road. Absolutely not! It's up to you.

eh, run it. consider installing a cheap voltmeter as insurance?

A voltmeter will tell you if the charging system is working, but it won't keep your stator from overheating from shunted current.

I appreciate your candor & concern, as well as your recommendation of the SH775 --- but quite frankly, I couldn't install one anyway as there aren't any out there in the blogosphere.

Every single one that I've looked at, once I read the "Item Description" fine print, turned out to be SH775 compatible, but not a true SH775.

ebay search "polaris RZR regulator" or "polaris ranger regulator". Click "used" and then look for the lowest price. If you can't see a photo showing "SH775" printed on the top ask the seller to confirm before purchase. Most sell for about $40-$50 shipped.

Found one that reads "SH775BA" & "4012941".
Same thing?

That is what you are looking for. I don't remember the stock # of the Triumph pigtail that will work with the sockets but I remember it was not expensive at all. Someone will remember it.

So the added BA letter designation makes no difference?
It's going for $25 & change.

Damn!
It sure got quiet all of a sudden, just when I was ready to pull the trigger on the sale.
I can hear crickets... :) :) :)

And I haven't even asked about wiring it and/or converting from those harness plugs to something cleaner. :) :) :)

I went ahead & scooped it up, if only for s***s & giggles until I can do a little more digging into revamping my charging system.

I believe the 4012941 was the Polaris part number that everyone started with on the forum. Someone will chime in eventually with the stock number of the Triumph pigtail. I believe it was in the $10.00 range.

You are absolutely correct on that number.

I'm going to really need that pigtail number, or else I'll have to fab up my own harness from the R/R to the alternator.

No time zone issues, I'm back in Miami Beach for the time being.
I only live in Split & in the Czech Republic for parts of the year, mainly because of the nice weather, beautiful women, great food & fine beer. ;) ;) ;)
And, oh yeah, work... :frown: :frown: :frown:

Which one are you referring to when you say, "...the one you have..."?
Do you mean the Electrosport ESR100?

My head is about to EXPLODE from all of this info I'm taking in, sorting through & trying to evaluate on R/Rs.
The Cycle Electric generator on my '74 Sportster, on there since 1992, has never so much as given me a single hiccup after 26 years of hard use running full gauge lights, running/brake lights & a 100W halogen headlight bulb...

I'm with ya man! I made the mistake of buying a shunt r/r last year when my battery kept dying. Went with Rick's motorsports because I knew it would fit the bike. Now all my connectors from the stator to r/r are melted and I'm jumping back into all this information!

Looks like the sh775 goes for about 140.00 on partszilla and at polaris right now.I'mm curious will this bolt cleanly into where my oem r/r goes (1982 gs1100, currently r/r is under battery box)?
