If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Well that didn?t go as planned... headed out tonight to check out a couple of photo spots. One was a small park, and fenced off- typical sign of the times. The other I goofed up my directions and just chose to continue on .. I ended up on Rt 1&9 and ended up heading North toward Newark instead of South. I should have realized, but... dark. I allegedly was a toll scoff, got on the Turnpike and flogged it southbound to make up time cruising at a steady 80-85. It was self abusing fun. I?m smiling as I type this from the garage, listening to Universal Hippies, and looking at the ole GS. I do love that old pile.

There may be trouble looming though. Downshifting the bike is becoming stiff, particularly on the 5-4 shift. I?ll post in the appropriate spot after some research if needed.

The third major cold front system of our winter season brought some more snow to the tops of the mountains around the town of Wellington where I live. Snowfall was over the weekend, but mountains had cloud cover until today. I took the opportunity to take photos of my 850 and 1000 "twins".

My GS hit 50,000 miles tonight. I didn't notice until it was 25 miles over. Kinda wanted to stop and grab a pic of it at 50K. Oh well.
Congratulations on the 50K mark. Keep in mind our speedo's are notoriously optimistic, so I doubt you actually hit a true 50K. What is the average speedo error, about 4-5 percent on our bikes? I think an indicated 52-53K will be close to an actual 50K. So you still can celebrate later!:) Thanks for sharing the pic's.

Cleaned up the grime on the Cooley tonight...took the 83 750 out for gas...
Beautiful night here...warm

A few days ago, my son was heading back from Traverse City (helping clean out his cousins place) and invited me to meet up with him part way. WHich I greatly appreciated.
Took him for the Newaygo to Muskegon route on River Rd River Rd River Rd along Muskegon river. Stopped here for a roadside pic

This morning after breakfast with friends I went for a bit of a ride. Went up to see the beach area in Muskegon.

With the high water level, all these parking spaces blocked off. Used to be some beach there.

Man your bike is stellar. I like the matched paint on the bottom shock spring :)

Thanks! The shocks are S&W Street Strokers....back in the day they were the go to shock for Cooley owners...in part, I'm sure because they matched so well. :)

Dave, if you guys want your beach back you can send some water this way. The Rio Grande is going to look like a dirt road soon.

Just remembered something I wanted to share. I walked into a gas station without a mask and the clerk stopped me and said sorry, you'll need a mask or have to leave. I put my helmet on and flipped the visor down. Problem solved! That's probably a more effective face covering anyway.

Got a nice 75 mile loop in this evening, nice temperature, not really fond of 75 degree plus riding temps.

The after 6pm ride time works out well in the NW for temps, traffic n travel.

I forgot my mask at the post office yesterday. Wore my helmet. They seemed cool with it.

Tried to get lost again today. Didn’t happen. I dream of calling into work some Monday morning because I have no idea where I am. All roads lead to somewhere. This one lead to a really great rock formation.

Cool pic. I find it hard to get lost these days, but my last few night rides have caused me some confusion, particularly when I got on Rt 9 N instead of S and ended up by Newark Airport...

I went out last night with no intention of traveling down memory lane, but that’s where my mind went. With lots of change going on at home, particularly a son about to head off to college, among other things it’s bound to happen. With the recent self generated shifting issue sorted and the cycle running well, my mind and body were free to wander. I headed out to Rt 18s towards the beach areas. 18 is a decent open highway heading south from home with only a bit of potential traffic at one interchange, and one of the nearby roads I ride if I just want a fix of highway noise. Tooling along, I thought of the road itself. Thoughtlessly travelled by me many times, but as of four years ago, it became the road my son rode the bus on to HS. Now four short years later it’s past tense and he is moving on to new adventures and his world is wide open. Meanwhile while I’m still riding the same old bike I’ve owned since before he was born. The bike is a somewhat ragged witness to my last 20 years of riding, and possibly my life itself, yet a welcome constant that connects past, present, and future. I passed the exit for his school and continued on.
Next was a stop by the grounds that was The Circus drive in restaurant to pay homage of sorts.
Like many places cool and vintage on a valuable piece of real estate it closed a few years ago. Only the parking lot, sign, and memories remain as a witness to what once was. In another life I rode my 83 GS here often and ate supper before starting my nights out. Decent fast food, a cool vintage spot, and Sally, the waitress I had eyes for. But then as now I had no game and never got the nerve to ask her out on a date..... I grabbed a few pics, touched the sign, and thanked the place for the memories and rode on. The rest of my few hours out were less introspective and spent exploring with my mind mostly in the moment, mainly riding thru beach towns as an observer. I ended up at the bay by Seaside, where I parked for a bit, relaxed and took in the scenery. Twinkling distant lights shone thru the thick summer night humidity, boats silently glided by, and the quiet was intermittently broken by sport bikes being flogged on nearby Rt 37. It called me back and soon I was headed home making noise of my own.

Wildlife indeed. I've seen deer every night I've been out. Mostly just hanging around eating grass, but one did run across the street last week at full gallop. Thankfully he was a safe distance ahead of me.

We have a very active area up here...

I saw what I thought was a cat down the street closer to down town (I'm in a neighborhood but all of us on the row have at least full acre lots so pretty rural, I see a variant of either Fox, Bear, Turkey, Deer or Coyotes on my property at least once a week). Anyway Revved the engine... too late tail, went up with the white strips and it LACED this poor guys front yard... Oops, I giggled until I started gagging. Rode by the is AM and it still smells there. I swear it looked like a cat at the edge of the road!!!

Deer?? Lol...we have right in the city of Victoria...see them everyday. Just yesterday I had to brake hard in my truck as two came running out from behind a road barrier.
Driving around here is like driving through a petting zoo. :)
