A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.
A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I finally took my GS850G out today and put 41 miles on it. Actually my first time ever riding a motorcycle (with the exception of a 0.2 mile test run on the same bike). Enjoyed it a lot. Took advantage of it being Sunday and spent a while practicing slow-speed stuff in the empty parking lot. Might try to go take the road test tomorrow.

Good to hear you are enjoying it, and had a good 41 mile ride.
I would say that for your first time having a bike, you should spend lot of time in a parking lot... starting and stopping and making sharp slow speed turns (going down roads running thru the gears is the easy part).

Interesting.Around here, one has to take a mandatory driving course, which takes either 8 hours or 12 hours (depends on already owned licences for different vehicles). Slow speed stuff, maneuvering, driving technique, emergency braking, driving with a passenger etc. is all teached & practiced there.
Those driving courses however are not intended for absolute beginners, it's recommended to have put in at least a few hundred miles before taking the courses.
For the exam/test, it's recommended to have at least 2000km (1200mi) under one's belt.
Up until the exam, you need to have a Learner's sign (L-Plate) next to your number plate.
In my opinion, it's a very good system.
Speaking of MSF and MSF bikes, here's me getting after my modified TUX!
Well I got out for a little ride today...put 50kms on the Cooley....It's first ride in Canada!!!
Nice bike! But who is the ugly dude? No, not the one with the Sax......
Are those 36 year old brake hoses?
Thanks Ed,Hey Trevor,
You look like you've lost some weight. The jacket looks nice and snug too--just what's needed for wind-resistance plus, the "Cooley" looks good on you!
