A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Was excited to finally have both a nice afternoon and some free time occur on the same day, so I was pumped to get out for a ride on the recently refreshed 850L. And made it a total of 2 blocks before it began to sputter and try to die on throttle input. It was at this moment that I remembered the one thing I had forgotten to do before getting out for a ride: replace the 30 year old fuel line. Limped it home and spent the rest of the afternoon cursing my stupidity and pulling the carbs back off the bike. Will be cleaning jets, replacing fuel line, and then going on my first ride of the season this weekend. Here's a pic of the beast before I went on my very short ride.

I'm mostly just frustrated about having to re-clean the jets due to stupidity, it ran great for the first block before particles from the disintegrating fuel line (assuming here) ended up gunking up the carbs.

And thanks! It's the seat cover from this thread: https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?250324-Seat-covers-for-gs850-gs1100-on-ebay
Super cheap cover actually, but the quality seems very good. Ill see how it holds up to a season of riding.

Charmayne and I started out on her first, for her, long ride with a plan for a 100 mile loop to the east of town using both of the 550s. As she was ready to go before me, I told her to go ahead and get to the gas station to fill up and I would meet her there. Unfortunately, her bike decided to die about a half mile from the garage. At first she thought it was her tank but by the time I caught up at the light we determined her battery was bad. Although it read 12.3 volts at rest, we were only getting 7.5v while cranking. Instead of killing the ride however, we jumped her bike with mom's non-running car (we were going to have lunch together) and she rode back to the garage where I gave her the battery out of my 550 and I jumped on the Bandit.

Once lunch was done we headed out to Caesar Creek, north to Jamestown and back through Xenia to the house. We didn't quite make the full 100, only about 90, but she had a blast and we finally got her over the 40 mile mark she's been limited to. It seems the chiropractic work she's been undergoing throughout the winter has really paid huge dividends for her. She led pretty much the entire way except for a couple of areas where I felt just giving her directions through the headset wouldn't have been clear enough. Additionally, this was her first ride where I wasn't even close to her for some sections as we are trying to let her start riding on her own. She did superbly and though I'm still very nervous about it, I'll be okay with her riding by herself now.

She stopped to grab this picture at Caesar Creek

I rode the KLR yesterday and today. No pics just fun riding. It gets sleepy in soft sand though. Need to watch out for that. Good thing is that it's a light sleeper, not too hard to wake up.

Ah...so kept the 550 on the road in addition to the new Bandit.

Good story of you and Charmayne.

My "season" just started last week, and by then you had already surpassed what my average season total has been. And your weather there is no better than here.
Man, you are not cutting that new bike any slack, eh. Out in rain and sleet and slop.

My response: I didn't buy it to look at it, I bought it to ride it.... but yeah it looks good doesn't it?
My hope is that it's over... but I've been hoping for that for 3 weeks now. The Truck hasn't been run in a couple weeks now... Live to ride!
