anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Got out today for a 140km (85mi) ride up island with a couple of buddies to meet Rob who has a 1980 Yamaha 850 triple. Temp was around 8 (46) degrees in Victoria a liitle cooler up in Cowichan. Great day for Feb. 5th!:) This is a pic of my buddies 2011 Kawa 1400. Very nice!

First time ever Feb ride in MN for me.

First time ever Feb ride in MN for me.

I went for a ride, did some grocery getting and went to the credit union at Crow Wing Power Co-op. When I left my house, it was 39.6 *F, and when I got home the temp was down to 29* F. It was still at 40 when I left the credit union (25 miles south of my house). I could see the dark grey clouds in the distance to north, and the north wind was blowing at about 30 mph. 10 miles up the road I ran into the cold front, and all it did was get colder the further north I traveled. Pictures? Yep, but these are the ones while it was still warm. I wanted to get the tag for the riding game, but we don't have flea markets in da' winter months.:D

Empty flea markets will work.

Rode the bike to work today, then went out Sidney to pick up my favorite bike mag Practical Sportbike. 9 (48) degrees today and sunny. Put on 110km (65mi). I heard Environment Canada issued an official opology for getting the weather forcast so wrong. They said it was going to be the coldest winter in 20 years!! Not only has it not been but it has been the warmest in 20 years! This was taken by the fish market on the pier over looking the Pacific.

I enjoyed a 65-mile one-way ride yesterday (and back), mid-thirties to mid-forties. It was mostly interstate, but I hadn't been on the bike for quite a while, so it was just plain nice to ride.

Took the GS1100 out for a 100 mile roundtrip ride today to Titusville to visit some old friends.
On the way, this big gopher tortise jumped out in the middle of the road in front of me , and I had to do some really quick thinking to avoid hitting him!
Since I didn't want him to get hit by a crazed cager I pulled over and put him in the grass where he began to eat everything in sight.

I decided at the half way point to stop and get some gas, while I was there this guy pulled up on a '80 Yamaha XS1100 Special. I chatted with him awhile and he said this bike was one of three he had and was in the worst condition of all of them. But to tell you the truth, this is one clean motorcycle. I couldn't find anything wrong with it. The bike looked new, down to the gauges. This is the equivalent to our L models. But a really nice example of this particular model.

Great weather! Just a good day to get some riding in, lots of bikes on the roads, bike week is coming!

I have the same bike also but one year older a 79 xs11 special, he's probably one of the guys on xs11.com

Yesterday it was almost 40* (36.7 or some such). Today it's Brrrrrrrrrrrr! Currently reading -8*, projected high is 7*F. No riding today, no way, it's just too cold!:D

Hi,

I helped a friend move today. It was raining in the morning when I left but cleared while we were moving. Then it rained on me again the last few miles back to my house.

The worst thing about riding in the rain is the mess it makes on my bike. Now I'll have to spend an hour cleaning up. But at least we got my friend moved and didn't break anything. So I'm not complaining, much. ;)

We didn't have to move in the snow! :D

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I decided to take a ride today on the 1100 before the so called "artic blast" hits. I made a left turn off a major highway just before this happened some 300 feet down the highway from where I turned . Guy supposedly had a heart attack, but it may have been something he ate at McDonalds which he was leaving. Luckily no other vehicles were involved, as that's a main highway in this area and had lots of traffic at the time.

went to the zoo here in Adelaide (Aus) with my wife and two daughters, thought I'd ride in seeing as it was such a nice day.

I went for 110 mile rain ride today. Drizzling when I left, wet roads and sand from recent snow storm. Not too cold at 47 degrees, but when cornering on the twisty sections, you either had to be by the center line or on the outside, as there was a trail of sand through the middle of the lane. Constantly misting visor and glove sweeps across the visor to see clearly. I still manage to have fun regardless of the weather.

There's a gas station here in town, Union 76 that supposedly has ethanol free gas. I'm kinda skeptical what's filling that 10% others stations have. No rain gear just jeans and a ancient leather jacket, but it does have this cool neck gator built into the liner.

The Silver Lake Road loop I did near Mt. Baker, DOT failed to finish tar and graveling the roads before winter hit, so it was about 15 miles of wet marbles. Apparently, one section of the road is a about 50 yards from the Canadian Border and the feeling of being watched from all angles is high. When I arrived home just my knees were wet.
