All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Are these carbs worth looking at to buy?

Nice! Thanks for the photos! So it looks like we all need to call up Wiseco and see if we can get a group purchase price on a re-make of their early 1980's Wiseco K740 piston kit for a 741cc GS650 with it's closed chamber raised runner head! Better option than 650 cylinders 750 pistons 80-82 GS550 head, IF we can get Wiseco to remake some of those old discontinued pistons, IF they have any CAD drawings left of their design... Thanks so much for posting this Adam, very cool score.

FYI, the right sides of the real VM29 smoothbore carbs are identified by this square casting with a production machining hole plugged off at the pilot passage:

The earliest VM29 Smoothbores do not have the big hex drain plug, most do however, but ALL will have this mark. FYI that is my stolen rack of smoothbores if anyone ever spots any with cracks at the gasket surface lip on the #1 and #4 carbs, and the backs of the fuel bowls also have A LOT of dents on them from a previous frustrated mechanic trying to knock loose stuck floats with a box wrench or something I assume. The stolen carbs are very easily identifiable. Other side:

looks just like a VM26SS from that side. identifying cracks on my stolen carbs, still 100% functional. Please everyone remember those marks if you see any for sale or on a bike with those cracks, picture permanently on my photobucket.

Are you going back there to dig through more parts again? If not, is it near Norm aka Storm 64? Not sure what all cool parts he has up there, but if it is a mega stash, my buddies at http://www.ricepaddy.com would very possibly be intersted in all the leftovers if someone bought the whole lot. Somebody go over there and check out what all else this guy has!!!!

I live 2 minutes from the guy, Norm lives an hour from me.
Not sure what he has....could be a lot, could be a little. He didn't give me the grand tour. I'll be talking to him though.
