Well everyone is out of stock it seems & waiting for the next shipment in 4-6 weeks....

So I can't wait that long... suggestions please. I need a 100 19 front, 120 18 rear for the 550.

If anyone knows where they are in stock... give me a shout!

American Motorcycle Tire have:

Conti TKV11 F & TKV12 Rear

Sport Demons - A little pricey & longevity issues....

Metzler lasertecs.. again pricey

Chen Shing Hi Max's = also put of stock

Dunlop Elite III Front only

Maxis Promax

Michelin A50 Macadam Front M50 R

I guess as a happy medium I could go Avon rear with a Pirelli front but would rather have a matched set & something a little longer lasting if possible.....

Dan :)

AMT also list a 90/90B 19 Avon AM26... will that work well on the 550? Maybe that's in stock....

I heard a 110 is a no-go for the front.

Bill thanks for the links, this is for a friend who hasn't ridden in a while so I wouldn't feel comfortable giving him an Ebay tyre of unknown age, got to give him all the help he can get!!

Dan :)

Guess I could get a front Hi Max from the same seller as you & get a matching rear or Avon Rear from AMT....

I'm also thinking seriously about the Conti's....

I ran a 110 on the front of my 1100G and it had NO problems at all. It actually seemed to make the steering a bit lighter.

I just ordered that tire through my local Suzuki dealer, showing stock and advising delivery in a few days. They ordered it through an aftermarket wholesaler, Parts Canada.

Hope you're wrong about no stock ;)

Dunlop 591 Harley tire is my favorite 19" front. 100/90/19. Liked it better than the GT501 or the Metzler lazer. Big contact patch when leaned over.

K591 HARLEY DAVIDSON

EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE UNDER CORNERING STRESSES AND HIGHER SPEEDS
DIRECTIONAL TREAD PATTERN FOR BETTER WET GRIP, CORNERING AND TRACTION
BLACK WALL
V-RATED FOR SPEEDS UP TO 149 MPH
MADE IN THE USA
HARLEY DAVIDSON LOGO IMPRINTED ON SIDEWALL

This description worries me... surely something with Harley printed on it has a tendency to break down :p :D

Anyone used the Conti's or the Michelin's?

I used those Continental tires way back in the 80's when that model came out. They seemed fine but short lived.

I still say go for the Cheng Shins. We're talking about a 550 here - not like you are trying to control 100 hp.

Bad news, CS and MAXXIS have ceased to make street tires. Whats on the shelves is ALL there is, so buy em up quick...

I have the Promaxx from Maxxis front and rear. I feel they are a great tire for my 850. That's my 2 cents.

They don't have BT45's in the right size as far as I can see at AMT although that's what they recommended as well (or a Lasertec at $110!)

Finally got a front off Ebay (Bill's link, the guy has 17 left) & rear off AMT with both tubes. Final cost about $145 shipped. Prob overpaid on shipping by about $15 but not the end of the world. Still cheaper than JCW (their tube prices were awful).

The lasertecs might be pricey...but they have been holding up really well on my 750. Im running a 130 on the back and a 110/90-19 (with no front fender...which kinda sucks...haha)

My 110 actually rubbed the fender until I took 10 psi out of the tire to 30.

If you like a tire to give feedback when cornering try the Dunlop 591. Just because it says Harley doesn't mean anything. Harley currently makes more bikes than anyone with a 19" front. We're fortunate to get modern compounds in this size tire.

The BT45 I tried on my wife's 1150 is the worst tire I ever bought. I was looking for a Michelin Macadam 16", but was backordered for 6 months.

I just ordered a set of avon roadriders for my bike through Tires unlimited, should see them Monday. I have dealt with them in past, good prices, never had problem, and shipped quickly.

I asked about the Cheng shin Hi Max and was quoted they had 6 rears in stock. They will not be getting more as TCK noted. They say the Kendas are getting hard to keep in stock since Cheng shin out of business.

On my 650, I had very little fender clearance with 100/90-19 front, went with stock 3.25-19 this time. Also dropped from 130/90 to 120/90 in rear. Hopefully they will mount easy:pray:.
