    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi Hoping some bright spark can help me out. I am currently restoring my gs750b (see my other thread for piccies) and am having the frame and swinging arm power coated. Can anyone tell me the spec for replacement bearings? Don't fancy ?20 a side from Suzuki, so going to try a bearing specialist.
Help!
 
There is going to be a bit of speculation here, but if you could be more specific, ... which bearings?

If you are asking about swingarm bearings, they are available for US$13.06 each, so you should be able to get both of them for your 20 pounds.

While you are powder coating the frame, don't forget to mask off the steering head bearings, as well.
Actually, you might as well pull them, mask off the area where they sit, and replace them, too.

Sorry my fault, it is the swing arm bearings I was after. Don't happen to have the part number by chance?

I've knocked the headstock races out and will make sure they are masked off (or whatever they call it when you powdercoat stuff)
 
If the old bearings are ok leave them in there. Just get some threaded M10 studding bar, a couple of penny washers and nuts to fit and replace the spindle.

Degrease (with white spirit or similar) the bearings before you send off for PC. This avoids any grease melting during the baking process and leaking out marking the finish.

Tape off or plug anything you don't want powder coated, these guys will powder coat everything if they arent.

In order to find the part number we will need to know the make, year, and model bike you have.

Suzuki parts numbers can be decoded to get the dimensions usually.
 
A 750B would be a 1977 GS750. They only had one 750 that year.
 
cheap enough and you may be able to take the dimensions to an industrial supply type of place and get something cheaper.

You may be able to flip these to get a fresh bearing surface thus saving expense. I did it on my bike and it worked fine.
