    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey all you knowledgeable folks out there, I have a pretty simple question. I've been on my '81 GS 750 EX for about six months, and I need to get some new tires before the season really gets started (even though we've had an awesomely mild winter out here in the NW so the season never really stopped). From what I've gathered, its advisable to run these bikes on the best rubber you can afford. I'm wondering what the consensus is on the best tire for these older bikes. Suggestions? Thanks!

Welcome to the GSR - best motorcycle forum in the world.:)

The question of "best" tire comes up at least once per week so the archives has tons of threads on this subject.

You can easily search the database by clicking on "advanced search" and then typing "tire" in the search box, and also clicking "titles only". Once you do this you will get page after page of info on tires.

I agree with rustybronco. depends on your needs. I live in the flatlands near myrtle, so I stayed cheap with some hard rubber tars. If I were still in West V., I would have gone with tars that were hard in the middle and sticky on the sides for curves.

Welcome to the site! As you can see, we have some celebrities here, like John Mellencamp and Wes Cooley (think I spotted Ted Nugent too?):D
Tires... Pirelli Sport Demons seem to be the undisputed, top of the line hoops, in terms of stickiness, but rank lower on the price/mileage scale....Avon Road Riders are cheaper, almost as sticky, and significantly longer lasting, so better value. The search will bring up plenty of other tires that cost less, and do a decent job too, depending on your riding style.

I have had great luck on my 78 GS750EC with Dunlop D404's. Reasonably priced and seem to wear nicely.
