    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have an 85 gs700es that takes ngk d8ea plugs. I HATE these plugs. HATE. Is there any other plug that I can use in place. The empty minds at auto zone look at me like I have two heads when I ask. Can someone please help with this issue?

May I ask why you hate NGK plugs?

Yes what he said? Whats to hate? I have the same plugs in my 750, and have probably only changed them 3-4 times since the bike was new in 83. Have never had one foul.

Yes this, I love my D8EA's

Some bikes take the D8EAs, others take B8ES, but this is the FIRST time I have heard of anyone saying they didn't like them.

What's wrong with them?

His 85GS700 uses D8EA.
I use D9EA in my bikes one heat range colder
I only use NGK

I'm also running plugs that are one heat range cooler than the stock plug - NGK 9ES in my case. It's what the previous owner was running.

Moving one heat range one way or the other depends a lot on your circumstances. Racing (assuming that's what "stetracer" does) can require a cooler plug. Not sure why "knotscott" would need one, but it's not that unusual.

However, the original poster, "tigerfan474", only said that he "hates these plugs", without saying what he hates about them. Maybe it's because they don't come in chartreuse?

Maybe the stupid plugs stripped out his threads... NGK's always worked for me.

I'll bet that, for the same reasons he hates his NGK plugs, he'll hate any plug he puts in right now. My guess is he has other complications that are skewing his impression of NGK plugs.

Maybe he's upset his 5/8" and 13/16" spark plug sockets that come with his socket set don't work
