DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi guys,

I'm half way through building up a 650 Kat from a couple of old wrecks, doing a complete ground up restoration. I chose the 650 partly because I got a good deal on the donor bikes, and partly because I'm not the tallest guy and felt the 650 would be easier for me to handle (I owned a GS 1000 E back in the early eighties and if I'm honest it was a bit too big for me). This being said, the 650 Kat cannot be considered to be as sexy as the 1100.

Anyway, I recently saw a picture of a 650 Kat where the owner had installed an 1100 fairing, and I'm seriously considering doing the same thing myself. I have someone wanting to sell me the fairing / bracket / headlight, but I have 2 questions.

1, Has anyone done this before and are there any pitfalls? Like the gauges not fitting etc? and
2, Am I taking the plain girl from next door and just dressing her up in fishnet stockings? and will the purists kill me?

I've taken the liberty of using one of your guy's 650 Kat picture and photoshopping an 1100 fairing on to it. I think it looks great. What do you guys think?

Cheers,

Ian

I think that looks pretty darn good! To finish the look I feel it needs the proper Kat or similar clip on's.

I think that looks awesome! its precisely what that bike was missing

Sorry to disagree, but it looks fine with those bars. Ditch the mirrors on photoshop and it will clean right up. Thats a sweet lookin skoot. But others may be right about interference between bars and fairing.
