Gotcha.... . I found a box on ebay but it didn't have the boots, and boots on ebay are 75 bucks for all 4.
$75 is less than you were just willing to spend to have a shop tell you the same thing you learned here
Hard boots are no bargain

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

That's about the max im getting....So maybe I should hold off on the shop until I try running an airbox on it.
Can anyone explain to me why the airbox would make such a major difference??
Heres the list that the part number cross to. And the boots have a groove in them that the metal of the airbox housing fits into. Its pretty self explanatory once youve got them in hand.

I have a great idea, I don't know why I did not think of it before, kill two birds as they say. Save money on the boots by using the old, and save money on the gym membership as you will get all the exercise he needs wrestling with the old boots.:-k
You have an evil streak that shows up at times. I like it.
If your jetting is stock then get the box from tkent but order some new manifold rubbers between the airbox and carbs. Believe me it is worth it, definitely
Right there is another reason your bike won't run. :-kThe current jets that are in it are 112.5 on the mains.
Thanks guys. I drove out today to west 60 Cycle and bought a box from the salvage yard.....and what do you know.....IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MIND BLOWN!! Carbs need synced, but it runs. And it runs strong. Backfires a little on throttle down but I can deal with that.
Once again thank you guys for given me a gentle kick in the ass.
