    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

??on WD40 :( (1982 GS1100G)

Obviously I have an intake leak. Is it possible to replace the o-rings by disconnecting the carbs and moving them backwards? Is there a better source for the o-rings than bikebandit? Local dealer was a no-go 8-[
I have read somewhere that the boot-to-intake screws should be replaced with Allen-head machine screws (?) Should they be stainless steel? Anyone know the size?

Oh, and BTW, get another dealer. If they can't find some O-rings to fit your bike then they shouldn't be touching ANYTHING mechanical. I wouldn't trust them with a fisher-price bike if they said they couldn't get o-rings!


And, you'll have to pull the carbs out to get your impact driver in there.
It's a pain, but it's the only way.
 
My local Suzi dealer ordered them no problem, with the boots (pipes) ...$103 total (gaskets were a couple bucks a piece) solved the intake leak, idles smooth now.

I don't intend to rub up against these guys more than absolutely neccessary. They already told me they wouldn't work on my bike, it was too old.

Just remember that these intake o-rings are not ordinary o-rings from the hardware store or an assortment -- they must be made from Viton (or whatever it is that Suzuki uses), which is a special heat-resistant rubber.

Ordinary o-rings wouldn't last long at all in a constant bath of gasoline vapor and 200+ degree heat.

The correct o-rings are easily available for anyone who can peruse a Suzuki microfiche and place an order, but they are not something most shops would have lying around.

It does sound like your shop wanted you to go away and stop bothering them... you're probably best off to oblige. You definitely don't want those monkeys touching your GS.
