A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Blue 78 1000C project

I guess i have about 60 total hours..or there abouts..into the bike. So I wouldnt know what a reasonable per hour rate would even be.

I can bring you one and we can time it! My last one took 6 months of cold winter weekends!

Todays docket included adding some protection to all my hard work. Apply liberal amounts of Wizards Power Seal to a rag and massage it very well into all exposed metal surfaces. Let dry and rub clean. I dont recommend anything unless Ive tried it myself and I can tell you this stuff works as advertised.

Any worries about getting the Wizards on fresh paint? I've started using it as a polishing final step, and so far it's awesome stuff. Working on my wheels now, polishing and painting, and was wondering about it getting on the freshly painted portion of the rim...

I got a little on the bottom edge of the tank when I was doing the cam end covers and it didn't seem to hurt anything.

Well its been a few weeks and life gave me some slack tonight so I jumped on it. Got the new rubber on last week but hadnt remounted the tires, the 750 airbox boots came in and had been setting a few weeks, and Marc ( Kochic ) sent me the needed ignition switch cover. Frank Z's decal made the cover come back to life.

So tonight the airbox got put on. The boots could be maybe 1/8 inch longer but they go onto the carbs well enough for the clamps to work nice. If youre not picking gnats out of fly crap you wouldnt even notice it really. Tires got put on and chain adjusted. And I rechecked all the cylinders with the proper airbox on and readjusted the mix ratios with the Colortune. I can say that for all intensive purposes the bike is at 100% now.

Tires are IRC GS11 AW in the vintage tread patterns.

Put 23 miles on the bike now that it has road worthy rubber. Man i love this bike. Quick and super responsive. Everything you'd expect it to be. I was beating the hel! out of it in a 60 MPH zone and slamming gear when i hit around 7500RPMs and then I got home to realized I had left my wallet on the desk. Glad no LEOs showed up!!!

Just rolled 85 miles on the clock this morning while listening intensely at the engine and exhaust sounds. Smooth as silk all the way around.

Rode out to Maxey Cycles in OKC to see my buddy that works the parts counter. hadnt seen him in a while so popped in to see how he was healing. He had almost lost a leg to some sort of serious infection but hes on the mends now. Sales folks and a few customers came out to gather round the beast. I was pretty proud at that moment.

I know how you feel. I rode my S to the local Suzuki dealership to pick up an oil filter, and the entire sales and service departments came out to look at the bike. They had never seen one and were totally blown away by it.

We need some "glamour/done" pics of your bike now, Chuck.

Very nice my friend, great job. Makes me want to get at my 1000 again this winter. It's been over a decade and 60,000kms since it's been gone over so this winter hopefully I can get to it. Main project is to re-spoke the wheels, rebuild the clutch basket and maybe change the cam chain. It'll probably take me all winter to accomplish what do in a day. LOL.
