DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Bogging down gsx250e after a mile always and stops

OK. I can't clearly tell the difference.
Plan:
do a proper test with my gs RR on gsx whilst looking for a perfecto series RR. Do this with one eye on wiring and locating and connectioning that they share the one working RR. (no.more use of elec tape and use proper shielding for speed of swapping)

I must refrain from having 3 perfectly running bikes for a while. Shame as the GSX liked doing the shopping. The RD now will have to do that for a while.

The first thing to look for is this white printing on the top fin. If it don't have it, it ain't genuine.

Could read SH775AA or SH775BA, they are the same.

Here's a video that explains more.

Superb video and I can see every one I ha e favoured in ebay is a fake !
Hell they are like Mars rocks found on earth .... (rare)

They are also sold on the RZR. Easier to get one shipped from the US if you can wait.... :)

Q) A side question.
how long do normal RR's (an RR from a reputable dealer ) last ?
I am sure my GS one is from Wemoto (they are good for parts). I am sure 3 years old maybe and OK...... as far as I can see. 45? I am sure it was.

How long has anyone on here had a bog standard one on their bike ?
- how long do they last ? 4 years but I suppose they eat batteries

Drilling down the details, they both claim to be Series,as opposed to Shunt, R/R's, and that is what you want. But they are definitely not genuine Shindengen SH775. They just have the same form factor/connections.

But would being from such a reputable company be OK? If I can get connectors I can put bullet connectors on I would take a chance. They are series .
I can't find a sh775 and hell we need a reliable source .

shall I be the tester ?

I'd do as cipher says have 2 bikes prepped for the new RR.

Ok, I seriously doubt RM would deliberately lie about them being series devices.
It's a chance to take - get one, install it, get a clamp meter and see if the alt -to-stator wires reduce in current with headlight on then off.

I see no real difference between the 2 items to which you've narrowed your decision. For what it's worth, Shindengen made a SH775AA and a SH775BA for different applications, same form factor, same specs, same function. I don't know that anyone here has ever been able to discern a real difference except for the manufacturer to which Shindengen sold them. Maybe this is the same difference, none.

To my knowledge, no one here has tried these series R/R's that you've linked on their bikes.

As for wire gauge. Same or thicker than what's there now should be fine. Thinner would not do. The pigtails on the Triumph Connector are thicker than the stock wiring on the bike.

When I wired mine up, I re-did all with new OEM style bullet connectors from Vintage Connections.

Also bought their Crimp Tool, which works perfectly w/ some practice.

Disclaimer: Not an electrical expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

The one thing I can do is perfect bullet connections. All other elecs I have to leave to this site..... Yes I lean on this site for that and have got away with it for now - begging and all that.

I am likely to get one of these and of course will update .... this thread.
I have been forced to divert from.mechanics or a bit ....

Currently in Greece thinking about the purchase. Indeed the problem sent me to Greece to de stress.
I reckon if I do more Europe wide or even UK wide adventures on gs550e a series RR be useful. (The gsx250e can share it)

The bottom line its 70? for a normal one. Or ?145 for a true series one from UK guaranteed (after my test)
This issue with it bogging down blew my mind until diagnosed on here.

Few more beers and I'll order

You can afford to go abroad and pay rapacious sketchy greek tourist prices but agonize over doing the right thing by ordering the series?
I should be so perplexed.

ANother input on modularity for a fleet of bikes. Itd be easy though tedious to catalogue all the batteries out there and find one that fits physically and electrically across all GS bikes.
A few hard rubber spacers and two miserable recurring themes disappear.
