    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

  • In order to help others find info on a particular bike, be sure to put the year, make or model of bike that you are asking a question about, in the Topic Title. This will allow people to pass by posts they have no interest in.

'82 Yamaha XJ650. I got it for $200.

It runs, and everything's there.

But the tires are old, the rear is so bad that the belt is showing :-s

The seat is torn.

There's a 4" dent in the top of the tank. I'm not sure how he managed that.

The handlebars are bent, all of the turn signals are missing their covers, and the wiring is hacked up all to Hell.

I was thinking I could fix the tank, paint it and the side covers, clean all the oil off the engine, and make a few hundred bucks by flipping it. But the more I look at it, the more I realize that I paid $200 for a $200 bike.

Oh well. At least I have paperwork for it, I can't believe the number of no-title bikes around here.

I have an XJ650 Seca. There is actually a lot to like about it. The maxim had even worse ergonomics than a 650L, but there is a lot to like.

This one is mine. It runs great. Paid $600, with new tiires and needing steering bearings badly, and with an aftermarket 7-1/2" headlight. I probably have $800 in it with a stock 8" headlight, new bearings, and a new right hand switch pod. That one is expensive. I bought two brand new in the late 80s for $1699 each. New with warranty etc. That seller should have taken the money. Those mikes had nicer fit finish, etc, than a GS, but they came with loose ball bearings in the steering. They came with a lock and chain, with a place to put it. There it a strut that keeps the seat tilted up. Money you see in the show room as a buyer, vs. money you don't see. The headlight mounts and shell are so complex and heavy compared to the GS, too. It doesn't make them work better. The jack shaft motor is more modern too.


I bought this one from someone at the reservation near Chehalis. I think it in a neighborhood behind the Casino there, 2005 or so.
