A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi I have just joined the forum and after an introduction on gs owners this is my first request.
Hope someone can help.
I have recently purchased a 1977 gs 750 and as part of recommissioning it for the road I inspected the brakes. I discovered that on the front caliper the pad retaining disc is missing. This is the cupped disc that is screwed to the back of the brake pad. I understand that they often get lost or damaged. Looking on parts diagrams it does not appear to be listed with a parts number.
If anyone has a spare please could I purchase one. Has anyone fabricated one or used something as an alternative?
i guess the bike has been run without the part - is this safe?
Is this part also used in other discs in the gs range ? If so I am surprised that after searching on eBay etc one has not cropped up.
Thanks in anticipation.

I've not had gs750 but looking at the caliper they don't seem to be a million miles fron the ones fitted on the gt250 I looked at images of the brake pads fit in the 750 and they do not appear to be drilled for anything to be attached you would have thought that it would come preattached to the pads or listed on the parts filche.

just looked the parts fiche and there is a disk there that isn't numbered. Is that it? I can't help, but that is strange that it's not called out as part of the pad set, or at all. not labeled at all.

Hi, thanks for posting the diagram. Yes that's the part that's missing.it looks like it's pressed from thin steel. I have searched the Internet without success. Anyone with a spare one? I am willing to buy.
Regards Trev.

Afternoon Trev. I have (I hope) both brake calipers from my 1978 GS750 somewhere in the depths of my shed. I will dig them out over the weekend and see if they have the disc. I will get back to you if I can help.

Thank you so much. Really appreciate it, please let me know how much will cover it.
cheers Trev.

Hi figured out how to pm if you prefer to let me know that way.
thanks

No idea how to PM but if you send me your address by PM I will send the callipers to you on Monday.

There won't be any cost for the callipers, my way of giving something back for all the brilliant help and advice I've received on this site.

Hi I am very grateful of your support and I just think it's great that the biker spririt of keeping an eye out for each other still exists in these often self centred times.
cheers Trev
