    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

A friend is trying to do up his old bike and was chasing this information. I've tried looking on the net but wasn't able to find anything about it.

I'm not very mechanically minded but he asked me for maybe a diagram or information about this. He says with the engine cover removed there are 2 main sprockets and a little sprocket in the middle to hold down the chain (idler sprocket?) and this is what he needs information on.

Any help would be much appreciated.
 
sounds like there may be a market for some used 750(valves).
tell your friend to buy a repair manual and study it(camshaft installation).
post back if he needs some help.
its all about having the crank at TDC and lining up the marks properly on the cam sprockets.
 
I have a 77 GS750 - If you are looking for help on installing the cams:

> Timing at TDC for #1 piston.
> Install EX cam first - the #1 is pointed directly to the side of the head & the #2 mark is pointing directly up (in relation to the head). There is no slack in the camchain between the crank and the EX cam gear.
> Install the IN cam with the #3 mark pointing directly up (in relation to the head).
> Make sure that there are 20 pins from the #2 mark to the #3 mark. And, just like in the manual, the length of 20 pins, including the pin over each marked tooth creates a straight chain between the two cams.
>Don't be surprised if the IN cam rotates forward when you are installing the idler pulley (the small one).
