DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Talked to Mike at Z1, and he said he wasn't sure. He also wasn't sure if the parts on the 2 calipers were interchangeable or not. This is for my /79 GS550L.

Thanks for input.

What bits do you want to move over? Some will go, some won't

I need the piston boot that keeps crap out of the piston bore and whatnot. No fiche carries it for the 77-79 L models, but they do carry it for the E models. If that will work then I am good. If not, then I might consider swapping the L caliper for an E one.

Thanks,
Tommy

Jesus razor t!ts! That is freakin' awesome! Thank you so much. What is the advantage of running the SS piston? The stock piston is in good shape with no pitting or scratches along it's shaft.

Again, thank you for those links.

On Babbit's parts fiche...

Does mention boot is NLA, but looks like hampshirehog has you covered.

Yup, I tried everywhere, and both Z1 and Boulevard Suzuki said they can 't get 'em, at least not in this country.

Here you go:

The boot is the same thing by the way.

In my excitement I totally missed this part. Are you saying the little piston seal boot--#3 on the CMS fiche-- is the same on the E and L models?

Don't expect to actually "get" all of the parts, if you order from babbit's.
Just sayin....

Update on parts

Update on parts

Okay, got a quick update here. I ordered the piston boot and seal kit from WEMOTO, as well as a couple bleeders and washers. Surprisingly quick shipping considering they're coming from across the pond in the UK.

First off, the seal was way too small and didn't fit. Fortunately, the original seal appears to be in fantastic shape with no tears, cracking, or gouges, so I'll run that FOR NOW...I will order a new seal soon.

The piston boot itself fits perfectly, so I am very hapy with that.

In the meantime I have the calipers, pistons and bleeders soaking in brake fluid to clean them. I don't really care if the paint comes off, I just want the brakes to work well.
